Hi All,

My name is James and I live alone with 3 cats. Im trans, I have chronic illness, and I can only work  remotely due to my chronic illness. I got a job last year, and this past January I  discovered mold in my apartment. I had  to drop everything and move, and  moving in winter means I had very few  options  for where to move to. The cheapest I  found was a 1300$ place, on a 20k/year salary. food stamps are not a thing here (Canada), and I cannot go to food banks due to my chronic illness (I have a lot of food sensitivities). I was barely making ends  meet on that salary, but right after I moved it was announced that our company  was getting major layoffs and cut hours. Because of that I now cannot afford this  apartment, and I'm scrambling to find a  second remote job or freelance job, but  so far nothing has panned out.

I'm now nearly 3 months behind and I'm  desperate. If anyone is able to help, I'd  deeply appreciate it. Please share if you  can, and help if you can ❤️❤️❤️

Update 21/07/26:

As of today my landlord is threatening to not accept my late rent if it is not paid in full ASAP. I am only *just* getting back on my feet in terms of a passable credit score, and would not presently qualify for anything in terms of a loan or credit card. My family is just as low income as I am, and cannot afford to help me. I am desperate, and reaching out to the fandom is all I can do.

Please, if you are able, I desperately need the help.

I’m posting this because I’m in a tough spot and could really use some support.

For the past 10 years, I’ve been on welfare, doing my best to survive and slowly rebuild my life. I’m finally working and taking real steps toward stability, but I don’t have savings yet, given that I’m still rebuilding from the ground up.

Recently, I discovered mold in my apartment. It wasn’t something I could safely ignore particularly when I have asthma, and I was forced to move unexpectedly. Because of how tight the rental market is, the only place I could secure on short notice costs more than double what I was paying before.
