Pactblood and Saintblooded Flavour-Text
Usually I'm not the biggest fan of doing the flavour-text descriptions for D&D races/species', but working on Pactblood and Saintblooded in advance of my Priest class, I really enjoyed doing it for these two, so wanted to share!
Pactblood
When a Warlock gives themself to their patron, this can taint not merely their own soul, but their bloodline. Their children or children's children may be shaped by the result of this ancient pact, physically, spiritually, and sometimes mentally, after all, it's easier to make a deal with someone you've already sunk your claws into.
Pactbloods can be born to any humanoids that have entered into a contract. They resemble their parents, but their lifespans may be altered, and they have features that hint at their otherworldly nature. A pactblood born after a pact with a fiend may have blood red skin and horns, whereas a pactblood born after a pact with an archfey may have vestigial wings and eye color in constant flux.
Saintblooded
When a Priest becomes an incarnation of their deity upon the earth, their soul is forever infused with a small amount of their godโs divine essence. This essence can be passed down the bloodline, often drawing those that gain miraculous abilities from their heritage further down the path of faith.
Saintblooded can be born to any humanoids that have, however briefly, become incarnations of their deities. They resemble their parents, but their lifespans may be altered, and they have features that hint at their divine nature. A saintblooded suffused with the essence of an arcane god may have glowing tattoo like patterns across their skin and a halo that resembles an arcane sigil, whereas a saintblooded suffused with the essence of a night god may have black stained hands and freckles that shine like stars.
Weapon Masteries are....
I mean I guess they're fine. They're not really all that interesting though, and with some forcing saving throws on every hit, they can also just really slow down gameplay.
In order to fix that, I've been working today on Weapon Actions. Inspired by Baldur's Gate 3, Weapon Actions would give a unique ability to each weapon. These Weapon Actions can be used by any character, once per Short Rest, with Martial Characters gaining more uses as their level increases.

how many times did jack go โand now the doctor is going to show up and save the earth like they always doโ but they dont, they dont show up, no blue box, no screwdriver, nothing, and it gets worse, abbadon, no doctor, 456, no doctor, the miracle, no doctor, do they care? do they really love earth, humans, like they say they do? maybe theyโre only capable of loving one at the time, show them the beauty of the universe, let them burn bright before they burn out, but do they really love humans like you do? did they spend the last 200 years protecting the human race? not really, not like you did. you spent every waking hour praying to them to show up, because they solve everything with grace and wit, and everytime you try to solve anything you end up covered in blood, you succeed but itโs always at a cost, and theyโre nowhere to be seen. do they care? maybe not, but you do, and youโre going to do anything to save the planet you now call home. and itโs ironic, right? they put you in this position, do they know? youโre immortal and stuck there, forever. youโre a fixed point in time because you have to be there, itโs your job, itโs your duty, immortality is not a mistake, it cant be, it has to have a higher purpose, right? right. so you wake up every day, shakes off those feelings of โtheyโre gonna come, one day or anotherโ and get to work, because no, jack, theyโre not gonna show up, you have to save the earth, you have to remember everything they taught you, roll up your sleeves and do it. do it messily, but do it. save the earth, cause theyโre not gonna show up. you learned your lesson, youโre alone in this.

Welcome to Silver Scale Zine!
Hello and well met, traveler! This is the official blog of the Silver Scale Zine, an upcoming TTRPG zine made by fans, for fans.
Our first issue is going to be released in TBD. We wanted to give ample time for submissions and formatting, as well as to spread the word about our little project! The hope is to release issues every other month, though if it takes off we wouldn't mind increasing to monthly or more!
Are you a writer, artist, or other creator in the Tabletop Roleplaying Game space? We'd love to feature you in our zine!
Submissions do not have to match this theming, but those that do will be given priority! You will own all rights to your work! Submitting simply gives us the rights to publish it in our zine with your permission and any credit/handles/email you wish so readers can discover your work!
We do have the goal to sell each issue in its first few months for around $1-5 pay-what-you-want, which will be dispersed among the contributors to thank them for their submissions. We welcome all thoughts on this and how best to distribute to contributors!

I'm living month to month with less than $50 to my name after every bill, and am one bad life event away from being completely in the negative potentially for months.

TTRPGs for Palestine: 643 items for $10.00
A few tabletop RPG creators you might recognise from previous posts on this blog โ myself included โ are participating in this charity bundle benefiting Medical Aid for Palestinians. The beneficiary has been on-boarded with itch.io, and all proceeds go directly to them without passing through the organisers' hands.
A few folks who've picked up this bundle have asked for recommended entries to check out; as I'm sure other posts on the topic have covered the better known ones (e.g., @makapatag's Gubat Banwa, @jdragsky's Wanderhome, my own Costume Fairy Adventures, etc.), I'm going to hit the highlights among those games I've discovered for the first time while browsing what it has to offer.
The Moon Fucking Hates You โ A low prep pamphlet-size RPG where the Moon is trying to kill you, because it hates you. Your only stats are your hit points and how much you hate the Moon back. The game's text claims to be both setting-neutral (broadly true, presuming your setting has a moon) and tonally agnostic (absolutely lying).
Skeleton Justice Warriors โ A somewhat elaborated Lasers & Feelings hack (it's two whole pages long rather than one!) where you play as sickass skeletons beating up evil wizards. In keeping with the titling conventions of L&F variants, your stats are "Skeleton", "Justice", and "Warrior", which operate about as you'd expect.
You Are a Cat, and You Suck โ A one-page game in which you play as a cat, by which I mean all players take on the role of the same cat, competing for control of its single brain cell. Conflict resolution involves a combination of tactical movement on a grid representing the cat's brain, rock-paper-scissors, and meowing at the GM.
I've only gone through a fraction of the bundle's contents at the time of this posting, so I'll probably have more recs later!
This Frog is Ruining My Dungeon Crawl โ A pamphlet-size solo dungeon crawl (i.e., designed to be run by a single player with no GM) about trying to escape from an underground prison with a semi-omnipotent talking frog as your only weapon. (Is there a good reason the frog was put down there in the first place? Don't worry about it.)
It's such an amazing bundle. Here are a few I think are amazing, that haven't been mentioned thus far!
Maharlika is a science fantasy mecha rpg based in Filipino mythology. I didn't realise until right now that this is the same person who brought us Gubat Banwa- but, well, turns out they produce consistently awesome games!
Gravemire is a neat survival horror game in 1890s Louisiana.
Lordsworn is about soldiers making their way home after losing a campaign, which culminated in the death of their actual god. It's just a really cool idea and I have a lot of feelings about it.

Warlock Pact Boon - The Pen
Thought i would start sharing some of my third party game design onto tumblr and other spaces.
The pact of the pen is a story and utility focused warlock pact boon that allows you to craft contracts, mimic handwriting, forge art, leave graffiti, learn languages, and know when contracts are broken.
It also has the benefit of having a VERY large amount of unique warlock invocations!

This is absolutely one of my favourite homebrew Pact Boons, highly reccomend checking it out and giving Proxy a follow!
Probably talked about this before, but for when I run spelljammer I want to reimagine Modrons as the "caretakers" of the multiverse. Or perhaps the immune system of the multiverse.
They exist within their own realm and when something causes, or tries to cause, damage to the fabric of reality they Modrons arrive and swarm around to destroy whatever is causing the problem and to set about repairing the issue.
In my mind the Modrons and the Mindflayers are ancient enemies. As Mindflayers will use Nautiloids to rip open violent gashes in the fabric of reality to pass through to other dimensions/realms.
Sometimes the Modrons intercept them - other times they can only arrive to fix the wound before "bacteria" (aka incomprehensible horrors that live in the nightmarish void between realms) can find their way through.
I figure that the Modrons are a pseudo hivemind. A strange mixture of independence but also refering to themselves as a single entity ("We are Modron.")
Beings of pure order they will work to fulfil their duties without interruption. The trouble is that they are true neutral, if someone even seems like they're going to cross through to another dimension - even by accident - the Modrons will destroy them. Not out of malice, but just because that's their job.
However they have been known to rarely interact with others. Sometimes even using other people for assistance.
Additionally it's possible to travel to other dimensions without pissing off the Modrons. Just usually on a small scale and the methods cause no damage/no lasting damage.
