It’s not my boss who gives me these tasks its just… I’m a high school english teacher for juniors and seniors, which means quite a bit of prep for college applications and SAT’s, so my weeknights are often spent grading papers and creating next week’s curriculum. Unfortunately, I have to wait to get most of this done until after my son goes to bed, hence the late hours and lack of sleep..

But see! More reason you should be able to get all of the sleep you deserve considering you can’t be molding young minds when your tired as shit.

I’m totally writing all these excuses down so that I can use them next time and not have to bother trying to pay attention to my dad for hours. You’re like, really smart. You know that?

I know, and it’s sweet of you. You’ve met my dad and hell, you’ve been around when he’s told me all about this. I’ve even had to cancel plans with you because he wanted to take me to meetings and stuff to show me my future. I have no way out of this that doesn’t involve losing my parents and leading me on a path where I am clueless as fuck on what to do. 

The thing that bothers me about this whole thing isn’t your parents, or that you have a job lined up. It’s the fact that you doubt yourself so much. You wouldn’t be clueless without them Nate. You’re smart, you’re a great guy, not to mention your capable of doing anything you want to do. You’d never be stuck.

I wish it was that easy, I had work that needed to finish up and it wasn’t something I could put off. But it’s over and done with now, and with it being the weekend I got to spend a little more time in bed than usual.

How thrilling~ But see my question is why are they giving you work tasks that take so long to finish? You shouldn’t have to dedicate that much time to a few things you know? I mean if you had dropped dead or something from not sleeping, then the whole work woulda been a waste.

I know. It’s so exhausting, half the time I’m trying not to fall asleep because my dad’s tangents go on for so long. And that’s a totally smart idea but my dad knows me well enough to know I’d never actually go to a study session. Any other excuses?

Uh you’ve got shitty wifi and it flickers on and off and that’s when you just close the window. Or tell him the irresponsible frat boys hit the power generator outside so you’ve lost internet but luckily you don’t hang out with those rowdy crews.
