Something, something, IG sunset. . . . Just couldn’t help myself. It truly was a stunning sunset, but I stared at the shot and said to my underling, “Enhance...” several times in a monotone. 🤣 . . Sorry, maybe that was only funny for me. 😋 . . Taken earlier this year. Edits done in Lightroom, no Photoshop gimmicks. I ran out of my place with my camera when I saw what was happening so I could grab a shot before it disappeared. On the upside, I also developed it in a Glycin formula, out of curiosity, which I called “1. Glycin”. Glycin isn’t known for delivering much in the way of speed, but I also developed this for 25 minutes with five minute agitation intervals. So, I got some of the benefits/speed increase of stand developing. Nevertheless, it was a thin negative, to say the least, and it needed some TLC to get something cool.

But, on the other hand, detail hasn’t been artificially added back in, so it says quite a lot for Foma 100 that I was able to shoot (for the shadows) at ISO 1600, four stops higher than the film’s box speed, and two stops higher than their recommended push, and still get detail I could extract from the negative. There’s a ton more detail in the background, but I blew it to smithereens for this look.

Sometimes, it’s refreshing! And I really wanted to show off the textures, colours and patterns. This building is actually just like this shot: eclectic. It’s been expanded multiple times over the years, and each time whoever drew plans appeared to completely disregard the previous aesthetic. Depending on where you’re standing, it can look ludicrous or fascinating. If that’s not a metaphor for life, I don’t know what is. 😋
