i've been bamboozled!

Modern retellings of Jaybin LOVE having him hit Bruce they love it more than anything. "How do we make it clear this child is impulsive and just wants action and violence" and they'll grin and the ink will flow and their masterpiece of Jason hitting Batman whenever he's stopped from trying to dish out his (violent) justice glides onto the paper. And just AUUGGGGGGBHHH

#ok lets note the times jason has hit bruce in the 80s#1. when mind controlled by quilt man (and still managed to convey to bruce something was wrong + had a plan)#2. the tire iron. notably not robin at this point and doing it to escape batman. bc he just got caught stealing tires#by the number one guy dishing out hospital bills. arrests. or may send him to the foster system. survival hit#3. after leaning bruce HID his fathers DEATH from him and got on JASON'S case about trust#so jason cried and said TRUST? and revealed he learned it from the batcomputer. voice breaking with tears as he hits batman in the chest#notably not even hurting batman tbh like its basic wailing hitting the guy in full armor whike sobbing you all know scenes like that#and bruce said no wonder. bruce said that he (bruce!) was in the wrong and apologized#Jason's breakdown is completely understood by the story and hes not demonized for being a 12 year old that just learned his dad died#and this happens IN THE CAVE and NOT even in the field not even DURING his fight with two face#4. slapping bruce to try and snap him out of it during the cult#now ☝️. show me examples of all the times other robins have hit bruce /rhetorical tone tag via @arcade-confetti

on that note can these characters stop acting like jaybin and jason are drastically different people who can not and should not ever be considered the same man. like guys i hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the outcome of someone dying and coming back to life and avenging their own death and being talked down on by 97% of the superhero community (key word: superhero, bc they reaaalllyyy dont act like it in these moments) is gonna be an emotionally closed off and defensive individual. no, jason wont act like the kid you used to know, probably because hes uhmmmmmmm traumatized? and that doesnt make him an entirely different person? he still likes the same books and makes the same jokes and has the same favorite foods and gets angry at the same things. because its the same person?? thats responding to trauma??
