Project #5 Final Project PORTFOLIO BOOK
The process of making the portfolio book involved a lot of effort in thinking about image ideas and phrases. The PINTEREST was a worthwhile site to inspire thoughts forward. Once a workable idea came up, the sketch pad became the next best tool to work from. The phrase from PINTEREST was used for a book cover draft because it displayed a sense of mystery. The front cover was layered first with half the Planet Saturn and rings as background, next, a half cropped human face, and finally, the cropped phrase written in green letters complimenting color variation in Saturn’s rings. Some peer-to-peer collaboration further helped out with this project in choosing moving and still screen shots for the lay out. The layout was completed with a closing biography. All progress for this concept was halted when the entire Blurb site vanished and work on that layout had to be done over. Introduction to Digital Art has proven to be of value in that students open up to a new way of thinking per course syllabus. Standard industry tools were used to create ideas, principles and images. Use of lab time was available, online visual diary kept activities as reference material through required electronic text with Lynda.com.
What were your favorite & least favorite projects and why?
A favorite one was trying to work with the color studies and the least were the tutorials as they addressed command options for best outcomes from Mac and other computer programs. Lots of time allocated for one introductory course among semester course loads.

Collaboration for group logo and music mix was successful because the requirement allowed time among peers to produce a working product.
What did you learn about digital art this semester?
It is a demanding and competitive field of study among peers to turn out projects. Color concepts were not easy to work with in digital art, for example, illusion to transparency proved challenging as tutorial gave no specific shortcut to programs.
What more would you like to learn about digital art?
All portfolio work in Arts and Letters majors has to be digital, so, joining a club seems to be a right step for mentoring.
How has working with a computer as your medium enhanced your creative practice?
The medium helps me become comfortable with it, yet remain conscious of the paint brush, drawing pencil and ink as interchangeable activity.
How does your final book relate to digital art & what does your overall design say about you?
The final book relate by saying there’s mystery here because of so many other moments not captured nor time and opportunity standing still, so a glimpse will have to do! In the meantime, note how the onlooker takes a deep gaze, lives, and laughs and shares colorfully how inspiration grows, develops, evolve and extends.
How does the overall book design relate to the design of your online tumblr portfolio?
The tumblr portfolio was composed in fulfilling a very time driven requirement for producing the composition choices. The book reflects it in first time, practical digital work examples.
How do they accentuate each other?
They display artistic digital and visual skill levels through illustration, importance of efforts in reaching a level of technical confidence to meet some ideal goals and solid course objectives.
What grade do you expect on your final project and why?
B. Transformation is difficult as skills level with many of the applications made me feel technically vulnerable. A new way of thinking about art was surprisingly personal, challenging in time management of my class load.
What grade do you expect in this course & why?
B. Color gives its meaning through digital imagery from past to present. The feel of this course was more toward color and how to research color in digital form beyond cultural boundaries which included the sound and texture that color excited or dampened, yet, demanded from observers a response.
