the moment they decided to implement a Suikoden style character roster, they should have just dropped anything related to Chrono Trigger and called it somthing else

but once they decided to add *checks notes* FOURTY FIVE playable characters everything went to hell. You know how you don't have to recruit Kid? Like ever? She just shows up for important cutscenes if you don't?

They realized that they'd have to do this for "Guile" too if you didn't have him in your party during cutscenes, so they said fuck it, fuck the plot, fuck having this really important guy from the last game who is SUPER DUPER IMPORTANTLY CONECTED TO OUR SECONDARY MAIN CHARACTER (Kid) AND A VERY IMPORTANT LINK BETWEEN THESE TWO FUCKING GAMES

shit man, everythig was all set up for it from that Satellaview (SNES thing that let you play games via satellite or somthing) game Radical Dreamers, which is kinda a proto-chrono chross. Magus was Gil, a magician who was yada yada yada looking for his sister.

I remember reading about the Magus/Guile decision in an interview years ago and being flabbergasted.

Like, in a game series like Chrono Trigger/Cross, story is like #1.

Why would you make a decision which would cripple the plot like that in favor of, not game play mind you, but fuckin being able to play any character you fucking wanted out of GODDAMN FOURTY FIVE at any time?

I say this is the major reason people are sour on Chrono Cross:

It doesn't feel like a sequel to Trigger because they plucked out all but the most bare bones references to the game it was supposed to be a fucking SEQUEL TO.

By itself its a great fucking game, but all the Chrono stuff leaves fans bitter and for legitimate reasons.

Bear in mind, the Complex Dream/Chrono Cross crossover explicitly stated that Ashtear is that world's "version of Lucca". Another Eden is perfectly content to dry-hump the boundaries of Square-Enix IP.

Reminder they want to increase the budget for ICE from 3.5 to 45 billion dollars.

Reminder the majority of that will be for building new detention centers.

Reminder ICE are *currently* detaining tourists who can pay for a plane ticket home and people with visa issues that were already resolved, because they have to make quota so Trump can brag about the numbers going up.
