Flynn let out a deep breath and leaned against James “N-Nightmares…’s ju-just n-nightmares” he focused on James’ effort to comfort him. He closed his eyes, trying to keep himself at peace. “I-I get them. M-More now th-thanks to y-y’know”

“I’m no angel, I’m just Briar” she laughed at the Gryffindors over enthusiastic manner. A smile played at her lips at the sight of James hugging the bear close “You wouldn’t have bears to hug for a start” she joked “We just wanted to do something nice for everyone” 

She wan’t sure how long she was out for or what had even happened after she passed out. Sitting up in the bed, Lola looked around the room for anyone. Her eyes darted towards the door “James!” she grinned, happy to see her friend alive and well “I’m feeling better thanks. Umm not really, more from myself…well the elemental magic. Did everyone make it out okay?”

Henry quietly walked into Teddy’s room, not wanting to disturb the Healer that was standing by his bed and noting something down. His expression fell at the sight of his unconscious friend, covered with small wounds that needed a bit more to get fully healed and bruises – but those weren’t his worst injuries. “Oh Teddy,” he let out a sigh, which got the Healer’s attention. They talked for a few minutes about his condition. Learning that he was already more stable than before filled Henry with hope up to the point where he had asked the older woman if he could have just one visitor. Obviously, he didn’t spare the details of James’s… state of mind that he was in due to not knowing anything. And she agreed under the condition that it will be only one visitor and for not too long. Henry agreed, nodding his head rapidly and thanking the woman, who only smiled fondly and ordered Henry to keep an eye on the patient. Grinning, he quickly walked up to James, handing him the visitor’s robe. “Put this on, tie up your hair and hide your glorious bum, we don’t need Teddy to have a heart attack when he feels its uncovered presence, do we?” he asked with a teasing grin, hoping that it would make the other smile and lead him towards Teddy’s room. “Just be gentle with him, okay? He’s more fragile than he looks,” he told him softly and quickly checked up on him. “I’ll leave you two alone for a moment, I’ll be right back,” he said with a smile and left the room.

“Fresh air is good.” He mumbled, gently tugging at some of the grass prickling beneath his palm. With a glance at Kora, he made sure her attention went back to the rest of her ferret before pushing himself to his feet. Dusting off his pants as he neared James, he opted for a spot on the fallen tree trunk. It gave enough space for his friend to join him if he wanted, as well as a comfortable distance from the hippogriff. “I know it is. I don’t like seeing people hurt.” Quidditch was the only time he could manage it, probably because the adrenaline helped. Beyond that, Mercer literally felt faint. Little things had the ridiculous ability to give him nightmares. And what had happened was no minor incident. He was just relieved his friends were recovering, on the bright side of things. “How are you holding up?” While James wasn’t stuck in a hospital bed, all that worry must be emotionally and mentally tiring.

“I can get you one the next time the food cart comes round” she offered, hoping that he would still be willing to eat when the time came. “Who wouldn’t? It’s a stuffed plushie” Briar smiled “I don’t feel like a fairy godmother. There’s a few people going around giving out cakes and sweets to help lighten the mood”

“No” he cried out in the first reply to James since he’d arrived. “Stay. You have to stay” the desperation was running strong through his words. He had to have her around, he couldn’t do all this without her. “What do you want? Do you want me to take more? ‘Cause I’ll fucking do it” he was frantic, manic and downright reckless in his attempts to convince her. Beau mustered up the energy to slap his hand into his pockets and pull out whatever small baggies he had of whatever substances he could find. “I’ll take every fucking bit if it means you stay.” In that statement, Beau had a point to prove. He opened up the plastic seal and started popping pills like they were skittles. 

“My experience with this sort of thing is vastly different from the majority of you.” The scars marring almost the entire left side of his face spoke to that. It didn’t matter that he was shaken, what mattered was that he shouldn’t be.

“I hope so! I promise I’ll try not to love him as much as you do, though. No, I’ll leave him all for you.” Zach said with a small smile. He couldn’t wait for it, but unfortunately he just wasn’t in the mood for getting into trouble right about now to look around. Someday soon. But yes, he like the happiness that James was sporting. All this talk about the obvious love of his life? It was sweet and contagious. Zach’s smile never left his own face, either. “I bet. You’ve definitely got this look in your eye, y’know? Like when you talk about him and your dimples are just. Endless. I mean for fuck’s sake, you’ve got a photo of him and you as your phone background, this is real, sincere happiness. Like… it’s the type of happiness I think people would… strive for if they had that hope—for love, I mean. And either way, okay, I hope he always manages to make you smile that much. It’s much nicer than you holding back tears.” Zach pointed out. His eyes softened and he nodded happily at his words. “I think I trust you, too. Oh, tell me more memories. I want to know everything. Well, not everything, just… things you may remember that you could tell me that you think will matter.” He gave James a little pout. “C’mon, James, please. Pretty please? Tell me stories about us.”

Zach rolled his eyes but smiled--James was sincerely in love with the guy, it was so obvious. And the little blush! Wow, he was gone for Teddy. He leant forward when James took his phone out, looking at the screen. “Oh... oh he’s so handsome, wow.” He chuckled, grinning because the two of them together? It was so cute! They would make the loveliest pair. “You two have ridiculous dimples.” He looked up at James from the phone and gave him a very warm, hopeful smile. “I hope you two get to be happy together. Really.” Zach sighed with relief, happy to know he was a good influence? Good to know, you know? “I hope I can continue to be that for you.” Zach glanced down at the comforting hand on his own and he pressed his lips together. It made his heart swell with hope and warmth. He hoped things with everyone would be okay like this. “Thank you for saying so. And for... I mean, you know. Unconditionally caring for me--since it seems that way. It means more than I can even grasp to understand.”
