CRAPPRnauts Episode 19: Pride and Joy

Marcia Kadish and Tanya McCloskey were the first legally married same-sex couple in the United States. All the way back in 2004, Massachusetts made a bold move to finally allow this to happen. Despite a president’s opposition and warnings that this would doom “traditional” marriages, the nation nudged forward.

Some thought the controversial decision would be met with much protest that day, but only a smattering of bigots showed up. For nearly 80 same-sex couples it was a day of celebration and happiness.

It’s important to note our failures and learn from them. Use them as motivation to keep up the good fight. But sometimes we need to look at our successes too. To keep that spark of hope alive in our hearts. And when I see how happy Marcia and Tanya were on that day, my heart refills itself with hope.
