nocturnal lifestyle up in the lab straight chillin killin and illin

dunked in my coffee a capillary action warms my biscotti

coffee and solace loneliness lost in writing comfort found in poems

scraped of its innards the kiwi becomes my snack its halved skin remains

ethereal silence at the touch of a button the melody stops

imperfect person vising self-expectations dissatisfaction

whether together loves tether doesn’t weather in rainy weather

split me at the seams bleed me of my biases as I am reborn

with an open heart if home is where the heart is you’re always at home

bitter cold kisses the brisk evening air chilling my face and fingers

endless white abyss wraps around the mountainside eclipsing our sight
