But I do have mixed feelings about if they’d be good as an actual thing tbh. He did try to make Tess comfortable, but ended up doing and saying things that did otherwise - be it insisting she stay rather persistently and even suggesting she drink with him. Read the room, Keith.

This aside, the biggest reason I’m not sure if they’d work is how easily he rubbished Tess’s concerns and made her feel as though she were the one acting irrational. She’d told him not to go down there and said it was dangerous, but he did so anyway and even stops her from leaving? Mate, use ur brain. Pls. ✋🏻🛑

Whilst he is a relatively normal dude, especially compared to the others in this movie (fr, AJ and Frank both make him look like wee Jesus) he’s definitely not the Unproblematic Gem of a Man™ that it’s easy to think he is. I found myself missing a lot of these nuances earlier, but hindsight and reading movie analyses helped me understand what exactly I didn’t love about him.

If these unsavoury qualities are tempered somewhat by his desires to actually get tf off his high horse and understand Tess, could work.
