Spanish forward Lucas Perez is joining Arsenal from Deportivo La Coruna.

The 27-year-old enjoyed a prolific season in La Liga in 2015/16. He scored 19 goals in all competitions, including 17 in the league. This included a spell when he scored seven goals in seven successive games, matching the record of former Brazilian striker Bebeto. He also scored in the opening game of this La Liga campaign, against Eibar.

Lucas began his career in Spain with Atletico Madrid C and then Rayo Vallecano. Spells with Karpaty Lviv in Ukraine and PAOK in Greece followed, before he returned to his home region of Galicia with Deportivo La Coruna in 2014.

Die Mannschaft player profile: Jonas Hector

Jonas Hector was born in Saarbrücken, Germany on May 27th 1990. In 2009 he was offered a pro contract by Bundesliga club Vfl Bochum, but denied the offer because he didn’t see himself becoming a pro player. In 2010, however, he transfered from his original club SV Auersmacher to the U-21 team of 1. FC Köln, helping out with the club’s second team. Two years later he managed a jump to the first team! On August 18th, 2012 Hector made his debut against SpVgg Unterhaching, which Köln won 2:1. 

On November 7th 2014 Jonas Hector was called up for the German national team by manager Joachim Löw. He made his debut against Gibraltar on November 14th, where he went on for Erik Durm in the 72nd minute. His first starting eleven-game was on March 25th 2015 against Australia. In 2015 Hector played full-time in every single match, except for the match against France where he had to finish early due to an injury. On March 29th he scored his first goal against Italy, leading Die Mannschaft to win 4:1. 

He scored the winning penalty against Italy on July 2nd 2016 and was voted Man of the Match by rougly 34000 fans. He has a contract with 1. FC Köln until 2018.
