A Lonely Father

“Not quite. Swing your weapon with a bit more of an arch.” Jeralt instructed his child, “You almost had it that time.”

Berith vc: "C'mon, dad, I know Byleth's a handful, but you don't have to act like she's /twenty/ children. She's more like... fifteen."

It seems the joke went over Byleth’s head due to the clear frown on his own face, making him look a little sad.

Then the conversation moved onto the subject of the students.

“Unless it was Alois, most probably.” It was delivered so flatly that it was hard to tell if he was joking or not. “If it is a student, it was most probably an accident, I think.” He knew some of his students liked to cause shenanigans; but not like this. So it was a question if they would come forward or not.

“So it’ll just be finding them and making them come forward.” He nodded, at least he had that down.

“Alois does spend a lot of time around here...” Jeralt sighed. “But he’d probably come crying to me for forgiveness or somethin’.”

“We could try and fix it before he notices,” Byleth suggested, though looking at the shards on the floor, that may not be a possibility. "I don’t want to face Seteth’s wrath.”

It did look fancy so it’s not one they could replace either, from the looks of things.

“Maybe we should try and find who broke it? As you said, someone had to have.” Though this did mean investigating the house he aligned himself with. Oh well.

“Yeah, I....don’t think there’ll be fixing.” He frowned. “Still, we should find who do it either way...Sure it wasn’t you?” He was kidding, and he’d clarify a moment later by mumbling: “Just a jest. You’re too blunt and would’ve admitted it off the bat.”
