I’m no photographer and at times I am a very bad plant-tender, so I drew the plants I procured last year from @urbangardenerto so they will be forever beautiful in my memory, even if I do fuck them up by mistake. 1. Tradescantia fluminensis/Quicksilver in a little mug I got in Merida, Mexico 2. Sansevieria/Dracaena trifasciata/Snake Plant in a basket I found on the street. 3. Zamioculcas zamiifolia/ZZ plant in a pot from @urbangardenerto 4. Peperomia caperata in a drip hanging planter that I got from someone on bunz. 5. Pilea in a pot inherited from a pal. 6. Maranta leuconeura in another pot from bunz. 7. A little baby snake plant in a pot I found in the coal store of my house. More food from memory and notes on their new tastes. I think at the beginning I thought everything smelled and tasted weird because the things I ate most commonly at that time tasted and smelled the worst. One of the first days I noticed my taste was wacky I’d made a very bougie smoothie of banana, dates, oats, maple syrup and it just tasted like soap. I thought I was just shit at making smoothies but then more and more foods smelled obviously weird to me. I got my pals who live with me to be smell checkers for most things, as I didn’t know if something had gone off or if it was just me. Onions (and onion rings): Taste good! Aliums have been good to me in this time. 2. Orange pekoe/English b-fast tea, and coffee: NO GOOD. Chai tea: Good! Not normal but not bad. 3. Porridge/oat meal: Tastes normal. I make mine with salt and water. I have never made a good “fancy” porridge. I like it simple. 4. Potatoes: A bit “off”. Can’t put my finger on their weird taste. Saved by aforementioned garlic. 5. Cinnamon things: Not normal but not bad. (Square cinnamon cereal.) 6. Mushrooms: Good and normal! Like tofu, they don’t add any weird or bad flavour to a dish. 7. Raspberries: Not bad but not the same. 8. Bread: Doesn’t taste the same. Not bad, but not great either. I usually love bread. :( 9. What foods can I draw from memory and how do they taste? This is basically this series. Around March 19, 2020, my senses of taste and smell completely disappeared. They came back almost a week later, but two months later, around June 11, they went funny again. In March, wacky stuff with smell and taste were not yet “official” symptoms, and I was not tested for COVID-19. I have since tested negative twice, but know the tests are at best 20-30% FALSE NEGATIVE. 1. Pecan Pie: Did not taste bad, but did not taste as sweet as something 95% sugar should taste. I ate it for breakfast 4 days in a row. 2. Pineapple: No good. Smells like soap. Did not taste. Same as melon and mango. 3. Olives: Taste like normal! Salty. Bitter? Stuffed Olives: No good. I think the tomato inside? I started eating a daily olive to see if my senses came back. [they haven’t] 4. Strawberries: No good. Taste and smell like soap. 5. “Powerade” sports drink: No good. Very good. Coke and Canada Dry: Not good but not bad. 6.
