Fake Date - Harvey Specter
“Just get a fake date, borrow Mike if you want” Rachel suggested “I’m not borrowing Mike” “why not he’s cute” you just shook your head at your best friend “well if you don’t want to go alone to your sisters wedding where your ex is going to be the best man I’ll come, I’ll be your fake date” “best friends to lovers kind of thing is a real hit” Donna added in “or” everyone looked at her “ask Harvey” she whispered “I’m not asking Harvey” “why not we all know he’s sweet on you” “stop trying to push the whole me and Harvey thing, he’s not sweet on me at all” “sure and your the only one he doesn’t shout at when he’s in a mood, your the only one I don’t have to remind him it’s your birthday, but sure he’s not sweet on you” Donna said, rolling her eyes at the younger woman “I can just add it to his schedule anyway you wouldn’t even need to ask” she shrugged her shoulders “no Donna it’s fine, I’ll be an independent woman and go alone or maybe I’ll lie and say I’m caught up at work and can’t make it”
The day flew by annoyingly, not that you wanted it to drag but it would have been more beneficial if it did, yet to even leave your office, putting off going home to pack for the wedding you needed to leave for that evening, Harvey walked passed your office windows, eyes meeting yours “ain’t you meant to be out of here by now? Don’t I remember you booking a few days off for a wedding?” He questioned, you nodded “and why are you still here?” “Building up the courage to be an independent woman” he smirked “so that’s what Donna and Rachel were talking about at her desk when I walked by” “probably, they are finding great pleasure in my misery” “so what’s the issue?” “Stupid ex, he’s the best stupid man” he smiled again as you dropped your head to your desk “so get a fake date?” “You sound like Rachel” “and she suggested who?” “She offered me Mike” you laughed “Mike, nah you need someone that makes a statement” “oh yeah and who wouldn’t that be?” “I’ll do it” your head bounced up at the words “what?” “Yeah I’ll be your date” dropping the word fake quickly “no Harvey, you can’t” “why?” You had no reasons apart from the fact that you had loved him since the moment he smiled at you and this would just add to the feelings “exactly no reasons for me not to be, so go home, pack I’ll come pick you up in an hour” you took a deep breathe looking at him “okay”
Pulling up at the hotel where the wedding was being held in Harvey’s Ferrari wasn’t what you expect tonight to be like, but it’s what happened, looking up at the steps of the hotel, seeing your sisters, soon to be husband and his best man, your ex “I really expected you to have better taste” Harvey whispered as he got out and rounded the car to open your door for you “I was young, leave me alone” “I can only hope it’s improved since then” he smiled down at you “well if my fake date is anything to go by” from an onlookers perspective it looked like a couple having a sweet moment, he smiled turning you round to walk towards the stairs, as he grabbed your hand, there was spark for sure “Steve” “your sister is going to be so excited your here” he smiled “she’s been waiting all day” “lawyer life ay?” Your ex spoke taking “Brendon” he stuck his hand out for Harvey to shake “Harvey Specter” “oh she bagged herself a big hot shot lawyer, no wonder she’s doing so well for herself” Harvey felt the anger building “actually, she built herself up from the ground herself” Steve quickly spoke “don’t be a dick man, it’s my wedding and I’ll happily kick you to the curb if it means she stays and my wife is happy” Steve he’d always been a good man to your sister
The rest of the evening went by and the wedding morning soon approached, Harvey did his absolute best playing devoted boyfriend, you were almost believing it yourself, talking to Donna on the phone as you got ready and Harvey had headed down for coffee for the both of you “I’m not lying girl, he’s head over heels for you” “he’s playing the part Donna, don’t get to excited, I’m still convinced you put him up to this” “I didn’t, but I can’t help what he over hears from my desk when maybe we were talking a little bit to loud” she laughed “where is he now?” “Getting me a coffee” “whipped” “playing the part” “oh sweet girl, wake up and smell the coffee, Harvey doesn’t play a part” the door opened “I got you were favourite pastry too” none the wiser that Donna was on the phone when he spoke, quickly hanging up before she could speak but knowing the texts were going to come rolling in “thankyou” he smiled and kissed the top of your head “Harvey no one is here you don’t need to play the part yet” he didn’t say anything back which is so unlike him, you heard him sigh before standing up again to stand behind you “I’m not playing any part sweetheart” hands rested on your shoulders as he looked at you via the mirror you were sat at “I didn’t come to your office to be a fake date, I came to be your real date, I’ve had Donna at me for months pushing me to ask you, I over heard what they were saying and finally grew some balls to take a chance” you smiled “what the big Harvey Specter was scared to ask a girl out?” “Harvey Specter was scared to mess it up with her, because she’s everything he could want in a woman” “then she would be pretty stupid to say no then wouldn’t she?” He nodded as she spun round on the chair to face him as he pulled her up and held her in his arms to kiss her “so do I have better taste in men now?” She asked as they pulled away from each other but still in his arms “I guess only time will tell”
