I listened to a man that said “what’s the putpose of reading books if you don’t do anything with them?” What’s the purpose of gloating about how many books you read i you happened applied that knowledge to your life and practiced it to better yourself? What is the purpose??? And that is honestly so true.
So to start off the year, I am going to share some things I learned in Dyme’s book:
1) Set boundaries with people, no matter if its ya moms dad friend boyfriend WHOEVER. Because at the end of the day, it’s about your own happiness and no one elses. Idk about yall but, I’m being selfish this year.
Ex. 1 - I am keeping a lot of my own personal business to myself this year.
Ex. 2 - I will continue to work on prioritizing my time when it comes to other people inserting their plans into my own or asking for my time.
2) You have to be accountable for yourself, your actions and the decisions you make. Nobody is going to save you. You have to save yourself. What I mean by that is, the world doesn’t owe you anything, and the sooner you understand and accept that rule of life, the easier things will become for you.
Ex. 1 - I have accepted the fact that I am where I am today because of past decisions and past mistakes. I have no one else to blame for that but myself. I am also the only one that can get me to where I want to be in the future. I am the one that needs to do that. Me and me only.
Ex. 2 - I am taking many steps to better myself and I am happy and proud about that.
3) Self love and acceptance is owning your truth, and confronting your inner struggles/demons. Living authentically and truly loving yourself is a daily practice and requires real consistent effort.
Ex. 1 - One thing that I said I would do this year is walk out wearing clothes I want to wear, regardless of the state of my skin. I will wear these clothes comfortably and CONFIDENTLY. While also loving my skin no matter how it looks.
Ex. 2 - I would really like to tackle a deeper inner struggle this year. So I will sign up for a class really soon, probably in April. I look forward to this class.
I would say those were my 3 hands down biggest takeaways from the book and I am happy that I did this reflection. It reminds me of my own bigger picture.
