🎹 Ludwig, the group’s pianist and violinist, is the most intelligent of his siblings—cunning, bold, and obsessed with music. A classy strategist and self-proclaimed captain, his talent fuels an ego his six younger siblings love to cut down.

🎪Lemmy is childish, silly, and a bit ditzy, loving everything circus-related. He takes things literally, sticks close to his brother Iggy, and is an acrobatic spirit who tries to boost the group’s morale.

🥊Roy is the muscle of the group—an arrogant, brutish bully who cares mostly about himself. Strong and laid-back, he’s all brawn over brains, but he has a soft spot for family despite teasing them.

If I were stranded on an island with one of the Koopalings, Ludwig Koopa would easily be the best choice.

When it comes to survival, Ludwig has the biggest advantage: his intelligence and ability to stay calm under pressure. He’s analytical, strategic, and always thinking several steps ahead. The moment you realize you’re stranded, Ludwig would already be assessing the island—figuring out where fresh water might be, what areas are safest for shelter, what resources can be used, and how to maximize your chances of escape. He wouldn’t waste time panicking or complaining. He’d treat the whole situation like a military operation and immediately start forming a plan.

That’s what makes him the strongest survival partner. It’s not just that he’s smart—it’s that his intelligence is actually practical. He can problem-solve, adapt, and make decisions quickly. He’d know how to ration supplies, organize tasks, and avoid unnecessary risks. Even if escaping took a long time, Ludwig would make sure both of you stayed alive and worked toward getting off the island. Out of everyone, he gives the highest chance of actual rescue.

The worst choice—even though he’s adorable—would probably be Lemmy Koopa

Lemmy is cute and funny, but survival-wise… he’s a disaster. He’s extremely childish, a bit of a crybaby, and not very resourceful. Being stranded with him would feel less like having a survival partner and more like being stuck taking care of a little kid. He’s a lovable bumbling idiot, but still a bumbling idiot. He’d probably get distracted constantly, wander off, mess things up by accident, or panic when things get difficult. Instead of helping you survive, you’d spend most of your energy making sure he stays safe.

Iggy Koopa might seem like a good choice at first because he’s a genius, but honestly, not by much. He’d probably be idiot number two on the island. Sure, he’d try inventing something to help escape, but without technology, tools, or machine parts, his usefulness drops a lot. Most of his skills depend on having materials to work with. Without that, he’d probably just cause chaos and mayhem while insisting his weird ideas will work.

Morton Koopa Jr. is basically idiot number three—but at least he brings something useful. He’s strong, good at heavy lifting, and would be great for building shelters, carrying supplies, or even hunting. So while he’s not the sharpest, his physical strength would make him valuable.

Roy Koopa would honestly be one of the worst for a different reason. He’s capable—he’d help protect you, help build things, and physically pull his weight—but he would be insufferable He’d constantly mock you, tease you, and laugh whenever you messed something up. At the end of the day, he would help keep you alive, but good luck having a peaceful conversation with him. Socially, he’d be exhausting.

Wendy O. Koopa would actually be pretty self-sufficient. She can handle herself and wouldn’t be dead weight at all. The only reason she ranks below Ludwig is because she doesn’t quite have his level of strategic intelligence. She’d survive, but Ludwig would still outperform her in planning and long-term escape strategy.

And Larry Koopa is… average. Not terrible, not amazing. You probably wouldn’t starve with Larry around, but you also probably wouldn’t get anywhere fast. He doesn’t excel in survival skills, and with his timid nature, he’d hesitate a lot instead of taking initiative. Conversation-wise, things might also feel pretty quiet.

Night had fallen over Bowser's Castle, and the lava outside glowed like fiery rivers beneath the black stone walls. Inside, the castle was quieter than usual.

King Bowser had finally finished a long day of ruling, training soldiers, and dealing with paperwork Kamek had shoved onto his desk.

He stretched his massive arms with a groan.

“Alright, that’s enough for today.”

Down the hall, his children were all getting ready for bed.

Bowser Jr. brushed his teeth while making silly faces in the mirror.

Ludwig von Koopa carefully folded his night clothes and made sure his hearing aid was safely placed beside his bed.

Lemmy Koopa bounced on his mattress three times before finally settling down.

Roy Koopa pretended he wasn’t tired at all.

Iggy Koopa nearly tripped over one of his inventions on the floor.

Wendy O. Koopa brushed her teeth while judging everyone else’s pajamas.

Morton Koopa Jr. helped little Larry tuck in his blanket.

Larry Koopa quietly whispered, “Goodnight.”

Soon, all the lights were out.

Then—

Thunder exploded across the sky.

Rain slammed against the castle windows.

Another flash of lightning filled the halls with white light.

Junior jolted upright in bed.

His little hands gripped his blanket.

Another rumble shook the windows.

“…Papa?”

His voice came out tiny.

Junior slipped out of bed, clutching his stuffed plushie, and padded down the dark hallway toward Bowser’s room. He hesitated at the door, then slowly pushed it open.

Creeeak.

Bowser stirred.

“…Hm?”

Junior stood in the doorway, eyes wide.

“Papa… can I sleep with you?”

Bowser immediately softened.

The king who terrified armies melted into a dad in seconds.

“C’mere, buddy.”

Junior climbed onto the bed, and Bowser lifted him with one arm like he weighed nothing.

“Aww, was thunder being mean to my little hatchling?” Bowser asked, voice warm and sleepy.

Junior buried his face in Bowser’s chest and nodded.

Bowser gently rubbed his shell.

“It’s alright, baby boy. Thunder’s loud, but it can’t hurt you in here. Papa’s got you.”

Junior relaxed.

“Really?”

“Really.”

Bowser tucked blankets around him.

“My sweet little prince is safe.”

Junior yawned.

Outside, thunder roared again.

But nearby, in their own rooms, the Koopalings were awake too.

Ludwig sat stiffly in bed, pretending the storm didn’t bother him.

At first, I was SUPER excited from the teasers—and honestly, I still am. But as more clips and previews have come out, I’ve started noticing that it seems like they’re focusing less on Mario and more on expanding into the whole Nintendo universe.

And don’t get me wrong, that’s really cool and has a lot of potential! I just feel a little nervous that it might shift too far away from being a *Mario* movie and lose some of what made it feel special in the first place.

I’m still really excited to watch it, and I genuinely hope it turns out amazing. There’s also a good chance I’m completely overthinking it and it’ll balance everything perfectly.

But yeah… I’m excited, just a little nervous too.

Today was the Koopalings’ birthday, and the castle was buzzing with excitement. Balloons floated lazily around the room, confetti stuck to everything—even the cake—and the punch had somehow spilled a little on the floor, making tiny rainbow puddles.

The Koopalings were trying really hard to act mature. Ludwig straightened his back like a tiny, serious prince. Lemmy tried to talk in full sentences without squeaking. Morton… well, Morton just nodded a lot and pretended he knew what “responsible behavior” was.

Bowser, watching from nearby, raised an eyebrow. “Hmm… they’re really forcing it, huh?” he muttered. He could see it in the stiff smiles, the careful steps, even the way Wendy tried to hold her party hat just right. It was… adorable.

Kamek clapped, oblivious. “Thank you, children! Your… professionalism is noted!”

When it was time for drinks, Kamek led them to his little lab corner. Two barrels waited: one pink, one green. “Special birthday drinks!” he announced. The Koopalings, eager and trusting, each grabbed a cup. But—oops—they picked the wrong ones. The green drink was no ordinary juice; it was a potion that turned them into literal five-year-olds.

At first, nothing seemed different… then, suddenly: squeaks. Tiny arms. Ballooning clothes. Lemmy immediately squealed and tried to jump onto Bowser’s tail, but it was slippery from punch. “D-Daddy!” he cried.

When the potion wore off, they stretched back to twelve, sticky hair and confetti still in place. Bowser shook his head, smiling. “See? It’s okay to be little sometimes.”

The Koopalings exchanged sly grins. Ludwig muttered, “We’ve been twelve for… forever. Do we ever age?”

Lemmy giggled, bouncing. “Who cares! This is way more fun!”
