"What is this?" Harry snapped as the thick book dropped onto his desk, sending stacks of half-completed forms fluttering to the floor. He scanned the title: The Joys of Gay Sex, Volume 3, Wizarding Edition.
"It's a book, Potter," Malfoy rolled his eyes. "You may have heard of them before? They contain knowledge and inst—"
Harry cut him off. "I know what a book is, you infuriating git, why are you giving this book to me?"
Malfoy's lips curled into that smirk that did things to Harry's insides. Angry things, obviously. "Forgive me for assuming you'd like to be prepared for our date on Friday."
"We don't have a date, on Friday or any other day. We're not dating! I'm not gay!" In hindsight Harry realised he probably should have led with that last bit.
Malfoy hummed. "Bi, whatever." He waved his hand in a dismissive gesture that had Harry spluttering.
"You are right though, I have bungled the order of operations." His expression said he hadn't bungled anything. He wanted Harry caught flat-footed.
"Harry." His name, drawled in that posh tone, had Harry's eyes flicking up to meet twinkling grey ones. "I would love to take you to dinner on Friday night and then…" Malfoy's eyes flicked to the book and back to Harry and he raised one arched brow.
After a fierce, but admittedly brief, internal debate, Harry said, "Alright."
When Malfoy grinned in triumph Harry held up a hand. "Dinner only. It's going to take more than one date before…" He nodded to the book.
"Whatever you say, darling." Malfoy patted his head, the cheeky bastard, and strode from the room.
Harry waited until he was gone before opening the book and starting to read.
