You will never be on your own.

The truth is, we are all on a journey, and we won’t arrive at our destination in this lifetime. Until then, our heavenly Father stands with His arms open, ready to receive us as we take our next steps toward Him. The book of Isaiah says, “Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, ‘This is the way; walk in it’ ” (30:21). Our God has already taken the steps to provide us with His perfection in Jesus. All He asks is for us to walk forward as He celebrates the progress we’ve made along the way.

One key to being happier in life is to assume the best in people, that they are operating to the best of their ability, and they mean you no harm. When you decide to err on the side of assuming others have good motives, you protect yourself from living with a negative mind-set. Even more than that, when we decide to assume the best about people, we’re deciding to love them. We’re choosing to trust that they’re not out to get us, or trying to take something from us. First Corinthians explains how love “always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres” (13:7). And, best of all, we’re actually protecting the relationship and each other’s happiness, letting love guide our assumptions about each other’s motives instead of preparing for disappointment or hurt.
