Flashback Friday: This record is special to me bcuz of the story and journey behind it. Most don’t know that Chris Content is the reason there is a On My Block and Termanology is the reason I met and started working with Chris Content aka Krazo. Growing up in the 978 of Mass (Maynard) I was HEAVILY inspired by Lawtown Legends Reks & Termanology. When I started making beats (2006) those were the two artists I wanted to work with the most. My theory was, I can’t get to them so I’ll reach out and work with everyone around them or connected to them and work my way up and that’s how I meet Krazo. Sent him a batch of beats off one YouTube video of his where I saw Term in the video and nothing ever came to be. This is 2013. I’m living in Lowell/Marlboro at the time doing cyphers for Grind Mode Cypher and beats for local artists and Ig beat videos daily. Chris Content was managed by Big Rah at the time and Rah was managing an artist named Ricky Bats from the Bronx. Both Chris and Bats were in Rah’s basement office in Worcester and Chris played the On My Block beat in the beat batch I sent him Bats heard it, asked who made the beat, said it was me, reached out to me directly, asked to send a batch of beats, I sent him the same batch as Chris and a little later on he bought the beat, recorded with Maino and invited me to the video shoot, got offered to join Gotham City Boys as In house producer and DJ in 2015 and the rest is history. Fast forward 2017, Chris Content and I finally got a record in with “Under Pressure” featuring Termanology (Prod. Flip Jackson) [Dir. Gil Videos] which got premiered on DJ Premier’s blog premierwuzhere.com, ThisIs50 & 2DopeBoyz among many others! Happy Birthday Gordo Frederico‼️🕊️‼️ RIP FRED THE GODSON 🕊️🙏🏼 For those that don’t know, I have a strong spiritual connection to Fred as he was the first mainstream rapper to ever rap on a Flip Jackson beat&it be released. I had other beats that had been placed before that w/ mainstream rappers but they had never been released so this record was extra special. The year was 2013&I was going down a bad path in life, just been arrested, two open cases&kicked out of my pops crib&moved in w/ my middle school/high school sweet heart girlfriend at the time&was beyond fxcked up in the game. I remember living in Lowell on Middlesex St&shit was NOT smooth. My girlfriend worked full time&I couldn’t get a job to save my soul w/ two open cases at the time&was depressed beyond belief. I had been chasing music as a career since I was in 6th grade&was now 21 w/ court dates&a dark cloud over my head that had everyone in my life telling me it’s time to give up the music dream. I almost believed them&started to slowly but surely think it would never happen&started working on music less and less. I ended up putting up 10-15 beats on YouTube for the fuck of it as type beats w/ my favorite rappers I could hear on each one. The beats were listed in the description at Non Exclusive Lease $25 Exclusive Rights $50. One was a Fred the Godson type beat. Kasso from NY hit me directly said he found the beat, wanted to buy it exclusively&couldn’t believe how cheap the beat was not knowing I was checking out from music as a career. He said since the beat was so cheap he was gonna get Fred The Godson on it. I heard that&thought yeah right, okay.. as I had been told so many pipe dreams&stories that never ended up happening to that point I didn’t believe it. A month goes by&he calls me&says you ready to hear Fred the Godson on your beat?! I played it for him& he deadass loved it and said that’s exactly what a fred the godson type beat sounds like! That was 2013&I remember receiving the $50 money order in the mail&the record in my email&crying&tears of joy&disbelief&knew I could never give up on music ever again.
