Fangs Don't Bite

“How about I leave the room while you confess your love for my damn couch then.” He laughed. “I see those heart eyes, Fangs. It’s almost like you are in love.” Sweet lea went to sit next to Fangs on the old couch, it really was worn in at his point, but didn’t it’s job of hosting some of the best movie nights for the Serpents. “You don’t have to stay here if you don’t want to. But if you need it the door is open, got it? And I’ve been working at the garage, saving up for a new place myself. I’d rather room with you than someone else who will just piss me the hell off. And if we live together we can do whatever the hell we want and Toni can only try to stop us.” He said nudging his friend as they had normally had to go for a less dangerous plan on the normal. Sweet pea’s smirk had faded, and he just nodded, obviously his father was nothing he wanted to talk about. “You know, I think Toni and you are teaming up against me. All she keeps telling me is you are going to come back and beat me. I just think you both love seeing me hurt.”

“Would you? That would be great, thanks.” Fangs joked right back and rolled his eye. “It’s all heart eyes for you, Sweets.” He gave his best friend a wink and rested back against the couch. “I’d much rather crash here than anywhere else, I mean, I’ve crashed at Kev’s, but too many of those and we might burn out on each other, I don’t know.” It was a bit outside Fangs’ norm to be as into a relationship as he was with Kevin, but he didn’t mind it, it just felt like feeling around in the dark sometimes. “Toni said she doesn’t want to move in with us though, so we’ll have a lot of time to fuck around without the disappointment.” He joked with a light laugh. “You just figured that out? Of course we are.” He nudged Sweets right back and grinned like a kid. “Hurt at the hands of us screwing around, sure, by those stupid gremlins is a different story.” He gestured at Sweet Pea’s face. “So uh, we’re planning a movie night, warm you guys up to Kevin. S’it cool if we do it here?”

“It’s good to build friendships in the game because you get more perks and such and unlock story lines. For some reason I get joy out of pixelated characters being happy.” Kevin sighed. The jargon he spoke about video games was foreign to others and he appreciated Fangs listening and actually engaging with him. “I’ll allow it. There’s so many words that you’ll realize you didn’t need to learn. A lot of them are very sexual too. Several pokemon names have been ruined for me.” 

“Yeah. I think we are all getting along slowly but surely. She’s one of the few vixens besides B and V that aren’t fake. Cheryl too but she has her moments.” Practices were another busy activity that he added to his schedule along with his gossip column and podcast. “I can be professor Kevin. Don’t know if it’s morally right considering I’m sleeping with one of my students - that actually may be a 12 year old fantasy of mine come true. College-aged though, not talking about the Archie situation.” Kevin’s dark humor often slipped out of his mouth and he covered it right after. “Wow…that..was actually really mean I’m really sorry.”  

Kevin didn’t mind helping, he actually enjoyed it because he got to spend a lot of time with Fangs. “Seriously, it helped you and I got to spend time with you so no thanks are needed. You’d do the exact same for me..and tutoring you has been working though I get distracted and have my hand down your pants within 30 minutes.” That was a reference to the first time they were supposed to be studying and the many times after. “I’ve never rode a motorcycle before but I’ll give it a try.” There was also a wonderful photo opportunity to be made that Fangs was going to have to take for him. He chuckled with Fang’s hands over his jaws.

“Yeah I was angry at first but I really saw how happy he was with Attorney McCoy.I honestly thought my dad was like me but on the DL for a while when he was with my mom. But..even my mom noticed it apparently.” It was easy to open up with Fangs, and Kevin practically told him everything. “It’s Riverdale, I guess no one can have a perfect family like we wish.” He shrugged, joking but being serious. “And..thank you for being so supportive and listening to me..it feels good that someone cares that I’m dating.” He looked into Fangs’ eyes, pushing their lips back together when they were finished the first time. “He’s excited about it, he really wants to help out the SouthSide. OH..I actually..forgot to tell you..my dad actually wants us to have dinner together at Pops.Is that okay? I haven’t given him an answer because I wanted to ask you first.”

“Oh, that makes sense. Sounds like there’s a lot built into it for it seeming like a really simple looking game.” Fangs didn’t play video games, but that didn’t keep him from being interested. And he’d learned a lot about some of them from Kevin, he probably would have liked them if they could afford it when he was younger. “Oh boy, well that’ll be a fun while. You’re going to start hearing a lot of unnecessary words from Sweet’s mouth after this. Oh, speaking of Sweets, when I’m not here it looks like I’ll be crashing over at his place, we’re even talking about getting a trailer and being roommates.” He hadn’t exactly explained what his living situation was, but Kevin hadn’t dropped him off at the same place twice whenever he’d give him rides ‘home’, so Fangs assumed it was silently understood that he didn’t have an actual home.

“Cheryl is definitely a character, but she’s not that bad.” If she wasn’t a Serpent and hadn’t helped save Toni, Fangs was sure he wouldn’t say anything nice for her. But she was family now. “Now that’s a fantasy I can get on board with.” Fangs smirked. “Don’t apologize, those kinds of jokes are right up my alley. Lucky for you, morals aside, I’m perfectly legal.” He spoke in a low tone, voice sounding a little rougher. 

He found himself letting out a small laugh at the comment about their studying habits. “I don’t think I’ll ever fully take studying seriously when you’re my tutor, but you kept your promise of not letting me fail. It’s nice that we can do even the boring stuff together, even if we, well, get bored and have to make it more fun.” He quirked an eyebrow and gave a small smile.  “So, small warning, that’s my baby-” In reference to his bike. “so we’ll do a little easy ride- in preferably grass so neither of you get hurt.” 

“McCoy is good people, she took me on as a client while I was in jail. It’s never great to learn about a situation like this, but like you said, at least he’s actually happy in his relationship now. How’s your mom doing?” He usually didn’t talk about anyone’s family details with anyone but Sweets and even that was kept simple, only tidbits of information at a time as to not come off dramatic, but Kevin was much more open which in turn seemed to make Fangs reciprocate. “Of course I care, you don’t have the greatest track history when it comes to dating, huh?” Fangs asked, being pulled back into a kiss. “Southside could use the help.” He admitted when he had the chance. “Really? Uh, yeah-yeah that would be alright. I mean, good, that would be good-nice?” He stumbled over his words and let out a loud breath. “Sorry I uh, guess I don’t know how much he knows about me.. us. Never did the whole dinner with the ‘rents thing.”

Kevin had on a grey shirt with a pair of athletic shorts, deciding that today would be a lazy day for him. “I’m on year 2 in the spring and my strawberries are growing. I spent a bunch of time harvesting them and giving them as gifts. Then I also have been training to fight the monsters in the gave.” The game was complex in a great way that you could farm and you could fight monsters. Kevin embraced Fangs’ grip on his waist, shaking his head at him. “Fine. I’ll tone down on the references. You can tell him that urban dictionary is a thing.” Social media and public references were Kevin’s areas of expertise. Sweet Pea wasn’t all bad, him and Kevin shared the trait of being impulsive but they were on two separate ends of the spectrum.

“Your kisses are becoming my weakness.” Kevin agreed. “If you ever need me to give a Pop Culture 101 Course, just let me know, babe. But hey, I really am excited to hang with your friends.” His own friends were busy with their lives, leaving Kevin to either be hanging out with Fangs or begging his friends for some kind of social interaction. “What kind of boyfriend would I be if I didn’t support you? And we both know you’re dedicated.” It was true, and it’s a big reason why Kevin fell for him. Getting shot affected him in ways that Kevin couldn’t imagine and he wanted to do his part to make sure Fangs realized how great he was and he truly would recover. “You do realize with that bike you turn me on even more.” His head turned to look at him, giving him a kiss for a long duration of time.

“I’ve been good. Vixen practice has been great aside from the girls that love to ask me if I want to be their gay best friend.” He shrugged. “I get to learn about a lot of gossip in school that goes on but I didn’t realize how stereotypical some of the girls are from cheerleaders in movies and shows.” Kevin grabbed Fangs’ free hand, rubbing it lightly. “I think my parents are going to be getting a divorce soon..I thought I’d be sad but..I don’t know my dad seems a lot happier. Their is also talks of a new police division opening up on the South Side according to rumors my dad has been hearing and he’s going to be applying for the job.”

“You grew strawberries just to harvest and give them as gifts? Is that a part of the game or are you just as cute in the game as you are in real life?” Fangs let out a tiny chuckle and grinned. “Though it sounds like there’s something to this game if you get to fight off monsters.” He added. “Sure, but then you’re going to lose me for about two days while I explain to him what Urban Dictionary is and sit through his rabbit hole of searches.” He spoke in an amused tone.

Fangs’ fingers traced along Kevin’s back. “Well good, because you’re quite kissable.” He gave a cheesy grin to his boyfriend and rested back. “It’ll be fun, maybe you and Toni will have more to bond over than cheer.” A funny thought popped into Fang’s mind.“ You should do a pop culture lesson for Sweets and me together. That way I can keep him from leaving, but also see his annoyance.” Honestly, Kevin had been supportive in ways he didn’t anticipate, Fangs wasn’t great at relationships, he usually dated someone for a few weeks and then bounced, but they had bonded in ways he would never have seen for themselves. “Well, I appreciate it. Since coming back I’ve had some support, but you really helped when you didn’t have to.”

Fangs was going to reply, but his lips were preoccupied soon after the other’s comment and all that escaped was a small hum as his hand cupped Kevin’s jaw. “So I hope that means you won’t be too scared to go for a ride.” He commented as they finally parted. “So apparently people don’t make best friends naturally anymore, I see.” He’d been called some of his friends ‘bi guy’ but that was something that came with later revelation, not what they tried to label him from the start. It had to be annoying to be seen from the start as the gay best friend people wanted. 

At the news of Kevin’s parent’s seeming divorce, Fangs sighed and gave him a little squeeze. “That’s rough, but I think you’ve seen what’s going on enough, even if they tried to keep it quiet, that it’s not exactly surprising news. You know, your dad is really lucky you are as kind as you are, noticing his happiness and all, but don’t let it all affect your happiness, I may not be able to relate to it all, but I’ll still be here to talk to if you start feeling other ways.” He lifted Kevin’s chin and gave his boyfriend a short and sweet kiss. “Oh really? You know he’s got a reputation, but I’m liking this family more and more. I’m sure he’ll be happy to be back in uniform.”

Kevin was on his laptop playing Stardew Valley, a farming game that he’d been playing for months now that he was addicted to. He just managed to get a boyfriend in the game and many hours were spent trying to better his farm and get upgrades for his home. He waited until the day was over in the game to respond back to Fangs on snapchat. Kevin rolled his eyes with Fangs approaching his house, knowing that the door wasn’t locked.

A happy grin shot across his face when Fangs walked into his room, kissing him back as he closed his laptop. “Yeah, but then I’d have to get up while in the middle of gaming.” Kevin teased before giving Fangs another kiss, extending the duration than the first. Fangs was right, Kevin spent most of his time with Fangs and not really leaving the north side much other to drop him off or spend some time at whatever location they’d go to. He nodded. Kevin would be a terrible boyfriend to not hang out with Fangs’ friends. “A movie night sounds like a good idea.’ Sweet Pea would 100 percent try and get some kind of reaction from Kevin, after their last encounter they realize the two had something in common.

Kevin could see that Fangs not using his crutches all the time was doing him good, and he smiled while pulling Fangs onto his bed and laying his head on his chest. “I actually think I’ll be able to get along with Sweet Pea, but only time will tell.” He rubbed at the top of Fangs chest. “And it’s good to see that you’re making progress without your crutches.”

“Oh yes of course, gosh forbid.” He joked and rolled his eyes. “Still stuck on Stardew Valley?” Fangs grinned as Kevin pulled him in again for another kiss, happily kissing him back, hands settling on his waist. Kevin started talking about himself and Sweets getting along and he gave a tight smile and nodded. “Just.. don’t start out the conversation with a Beyonce reference and you should be fine.” He said with a small laugh, remembering what Sweets told him before.

Fangs moved back on the bed as Kevin rested against him, pressing a small kiss to the top of his head and relaxed back. “If you think I’m awful with all of your references, Sweets is just as bad, if not worse.” He added with a knowing grin. As Kevin mentioned the elephant that was no longer in the room he nodded against the pillows. “Yeah,thanks to your help, it’s nice to be done with them. At least I think I am haven’t had issues so far. But I’ve got a lot of work to do to get my strength back to where it was.” Honestly the worst part of getting shot, aside from the fear was probably the massive inconvenience recovering had been for him. “Finally feeling solid riding my bike again and everything.  How about you though? Anything fun and new? Practice with the Vixens going well?”

“One day I’m gonna hit my growth spirt and you’re not gonna have any jokes to use against me anymore! It’s fine. I’ve got enough brains to outsmart your height any day. Are you sure you want me to answer that? That’s what I thought… We can just send Pea on snack runs and that way we won’t have to worry about him. It can be you and I on a date and then Sweetpea and Kevin can hang out together.”

Sweet pea knew his hot heat was thinking for him, making him just say the first thing that came to mind and Fangs was write but he was still in a huff. “It’s what he deserves, Fangs. And now he’s just getting free shots at Toni.” He was now only in the mood to fight and Reggie sadly happened to be his target. As he stepped out, watching Toni exit without a word he could only roll his eyes. “What? Now you’re not going to say anything?” She was the one who jumped on changing the plans too quickly just telling them to trust her. “Yeah, and what do I need this for? You’re the one who’s going to record it.” He called to her before looking down at the messages feeling just as fired up as before. “Oh, now I’m really just going to beat the shit out of that dog.” 

He turned to Fangs and and shook his head before slipping out of the trailer and throwing his hood over his head. “Are you going to be okay without that?” Sweet pea asked noticing the boy had ditched the crutches. “Are we driving there or not?”

As he received the text message, Reggie practically sprinted towards the stairs to grab his car keys. His parents wouldn’t be very happy if they found that he left so late at night. However, he wasn’t going to let them affect him tonight. Reggie Mantle was on his way to get lucky tonight, and he was going to let anybody stop him. Rushingly he sent a quick reply to his phone as he ran to his car, putting the location into his gps on his phone. Reggie: Be there in 10. Reggie: And Topaz prepare for the best night of your life 😉 As he made his way to the location, Reggie grew somewhat suspicious of the location but put it in the back of his mind as he figured that this was just part of the Southside. Plus, he figured the best part was the fact that Reggie wouldn’t have to associate with the girl very long since it was a one night stand. Wouldn’t this at least score him tags with the bulldogs hooking up with some Southsider too?

Fangs nodded as Sweet Pea asked if he’d be alright without the crutches. He’d been doing his PT and could go for a day or so without them once and a while, so he knew he’d be fine for a couple hours. “Yeah I’m good, I’d rather hit him in with my firsts than these sticks.” He nodded and headed out of the trailer behind Toni. “Yeah, grab the keys.” He called back as he hopped in the car. “Man the dude thinks he’s gonna bang you in a lighthouse? He’s really that stupid.” He said to Toni with a laugh while they waited for Sweets to get in, putting on his hoodie as they drove. 

“It’s come to the day when I get the stepped up from a damn ugly ass couch.” He said thinking about Fangs and what Toni had mentioned. “About the couch and everything though… Toni mentioned that you should just crash here…” He didn’t want it to sound awkward toward his friend but it seemed much easier talking to Toni about staying with him then his friend. “She said you have been crashing couches and shit you might as well just stay here with me and Toni. My mom is never around and until I can get some extra cash together from the shop I might be needing a roommie for when I get a trailer for myself. It would also be you, Toni and I just hanging out again.” No… that was executed the perfect, Sweet pea way. “I might be able to not do something dumb for a few days… but shit usually just falls in my lap and sometimes I can’t avoid it. That includes the dead beat.” Fangs and Sweet pea were always trying to one up each other, at least now Fangs was back on his feet and they can get back to their antics. “Yeah right, and be beat by the likes of you? Over my dead body, Fogarty.”

“At least it’s comfortable and broken it. Function over form.” Fangs shrugged. He quirked an eyebrow as Sweets mentioned him moving in, he’d talked briefly about it with Toni as well. “Oh yeah, she mentioned that we should get our own place, thought that could be cool. I’ve got some cash stashed at my uncles’ with my mom.” He had worked for a few years and saved up as much as he could in case she had more medical bills, but once his uncle took her in, he took over it all which Fangs appreciated, even if the guy didn’t want him around. “But yeah, that would be cool, thanks.” He nodded as Sweets explained trying to avoid doing something stupid, he knew him well enough to know how he was. “Hopefully the jackass will get it through his head to just stay the hell away.” He couldn’t help but grin as he and Sweets were back to their usual back and forth. “I mean it could possibly be your dead body.” He made an ‘i don’t know’ gesture and chuckled. “If I wanted to rig it I’d fight you right now and hit you in all your weak points.”

Fangs was finally back on two feet for more than just a day or so at a time and was enjoying finally not worrying about wrecking his bike when he rode it. He spent the night over at Sweet Peas after spending the day over there and told Kevin he’d come by the next day. Fangs had been working out all morning and sending some fun snapchats to Kevin randomly throughout the day and finished off by sending a snap of the outside of Kevin’s house with the text “3...2...1..” as he was walking up to Kevin’s room, since Mr. Keller didn’t seem to be home. 

“You know, leaving the door unlocked is really unsafe.” He joked as he walked in and over to his boyfriend, giving him a kiss. “So we really need to do this movie night with me, you, Sweets and Lil’ Bit soon because he’s really not loving having to share me and it’d be nice if you could come around more and I don’t have to abandon them as much. You’ll never hear the end of it otherwise.” His tone was joking, but there was an underlying truth to it.  

“That’s what I thought.” He said with a hard look. He wasn’t going to be losing his best friend any time soon. It’s not like he could easily just make another one (not that he would ever). “Funny, we all know why you’re really here. You ran out of food didn’t you?” He said with a half smile. “I’m sure there will be words going around southside and when I find out who I’ll be sure to bring you around with me and we can fuck up a few Ghoulie faces.” Thinking about his father only lit a huge flame in his mind. “No. I’m ignoring him at all costs, Toni thinks that it’s best I just leave it or I’ll do something stupid. That fucked up, asshole thinks he can come back here and I’ll be waiting for him. Fuck that.” It was good to see Fangs back to his old self, getting better from the shooting instead of the other way around, not that sweet pea would ever doubt his brother’s ability beat that. “Bring it! I’m still ready to take you down, no going easy on you.” 

“Actually I just missed crashing on your couch.” Fangs smirked as he wandered into the living room and plopped down on the couch with a little sigh. “Not that I’ll pass up on food.” He added with a shrug and grinned. “Sounds good to me, I’ll keep my ears open, we’ll get these pricks.” He quirked an eyebrow at Sweets comment. “You think you’ll be able to hold back from doing something stupid though?” Since that had apparently been a problem for the couple with the ghoulies. “Dads fucking suck, but Toni might be right on this one, just keep away from the asshole and ignore him. You don’t need to deal with his shit.” He found himself letting out a laugh. “You better not! I want to take you out fair and square.”

Two days? Two days was more than enough. “Yeah, yeah. Two days now but watch one of these days it’s going to be four days… six days.” He said raising a brow and crossing his arms over his chest. “Look I see how it is, Fangs. You obviously only want to hang out with Keller now.” Sweets hand went to his chest, his face might have looked bad but it was his chest that really was aching. “No, I didn’t see the cowards, they sucker punched me from behind. But I’m going to find them and fuck them up. No one fucks me up and doesn’t get shit for it. And to continue talking about assholes… he got out of jail, says he’s bad to make up for lost time.” He brushed it off, Sweets didn’t even want to talk about his father.” He rolled his eyes. “You better not turn into one of those shiny Northsiders, Fangsy.” With a laugh he tilted his head. “And now no crutch? You finally ready to take me on?” 

“Like I can go without you and tiny for that long!” Fangs shook his head at the outrageous claim and let out a little laugh. “That’s really it actually, I came here looking for Kevin, not you, have you seen him?” He squinted and held a hand up to his forehead as he looked around the room, scoping out the place dramatically. “Let me know when, I’m ready to bash a few skulls.” His fist pounded against his hand, no one fucked with Sweet Pea and didn’t have a big fight coming to them. “I’ll bash his skull too.” Fangs spoke calmly and shrugged, his father had never personally been around to make a bad name for himself, but he didn’t take kindly to shitty fathers. “I give you complete permission kick my ass if I do, but I won’t.” He said with a small laugh and swung his hands at his sides where the crutches no longer were. “Fucking finally, I was so sick of those things, but I’ve been on two feet on my own these past few days, so  give me a chance to catch up to you again and I’ll gladly take you on.” 

 Sweet pea had no reaction when Fangs walked through the door, by now his best friends voice was all he needed to know that he was allowed in whenever he pleased. “Huh, that’s fucking weird… I could have sworn I heard the voice of my old best friend. But that can’t be… he’s too busy with other things and not hanging out with me.” Sweet pea spoke through the trailer as if he were alone. He walked out to see the missing crutches and grinned. “You on back to two legs again, now that really is a sight.” He said flinching slightly as he was shoved; still tender from the Ghoulie jumping he was not even going to admit he was in pain from. “Not much, asshole trash goblins taking weak punches, my dad showing up, and basically a whole lot of nothing. What have you been up to?”

Fangs laughed, knowing he should expect the response he got from Sweet Pea. It wasn’t usual that he didn’t see Sweets and Toni for more than a day at most. “Oh come on, it was like two days.” He raised an eyebrow as he looked Sweets over. “Who fucked up that pretty mug of yours?” His tone was a little lower, immediately protective, but as sweets said ‘asshole trash goblins’ he knew it was the Ghoulies. “Do you know which ones?” By the looks of sweets they did a number on him. “Your dad is here? Why’d he decide to show his face now?” And not a whole hell of a lot, Kevin’s mostly been showing me all his little hideouts, nothing crazy, but I’ve had enough of the Northside to last me ages.”

After being in prison for countless years, Pearce was only released with a small sum of money which he’d spent on a cheap motel room for the night and catching up on endless amounts of bottle of booze. So, he was in search of a new job to give him a roof over his head and hopefully some food. If he wanted to return to his son, Pearce needed to clean up his act and getting a stable job and life was one part of it. Looking in the wanted wants at the White Wyrm, he circled and highlighted every job that he believed could get him lots of money. ‘Erm, do you know where the Fire Department is?’, he questioned the kid next to him, downing his last shot before asking the bartender for another one, ‘ Make it two, sweet cheeks. One for me and my friend over here.’ His eyes wandered over the Serpent tattoo on the boy’s skin. ‘A Serpent, eh?’, he questioned, a wicked grin on his face. 

You are such a baby, Fogarty. Can you make my voice sound taller in your head? I think it might make me seem more credible to listen to. I do not berate you, I just slightly suggest that you could be doing better things. Just be careful with however you try to scare him. If you’re caught doing the wrong thing, it’ll easily turn into the Southsider’s the problem crap again. He deserves to pay for what he did, just be smart about it. Sweetpea takes too much fun in seeing me spook. Hope Kevin will be okay with me laying on you and Pea. I’m not sacrificing my comfort for him, ha. That’s a good thing, right?”

Evie: Jug got you to text me? That's incredibly sweet of him.

Evie: Yes, sure. If that's what you'd like to do. Thanks.

Fangs: I mean, sure, he's alright I guess.

“Hey Sweets!” Fangs spoke loudly as he let himself into his best friends place, wide grin on his face. He’d spent the last almost two days with Kevin and his best friend time was long overdue. Today he was walking without his crutches and feeling pretty great, ready to get the last of his PT out of the way and back in the game, full throttle. “What’d I miss?” He asked as he shoved his best friend’s shoulder.
