The Broken One

“I’m glad somebody thinks so” she smiled. “It’s nice to feel appreciated. I can’t stand the rudeness of some of these people.” Even if this master had ulterior motives in mind, his attitude still made a nice change from the kind of reception she was used to around here.

“Yeah,” he gave a small chuckle not wanting to name any names. Fane was sure that his opinion of some of the slaves wasn’t shared with the other slaves and he figured the same probably applied for the masters. “So, you’re a siren right? I’ve never met one before a came here,” he admitted.

“Is that a fucking dolphin?”

“Oh shit,” he laughed. “It is. I didn’t think we’d see any out here, especially not by itself. They normally travel in pods ya know?” 

Sandcastle Contest

Fane was actually excited for the beach party. It would give him a chance to get to know more people on the island and prove himself as a master. Besides, he’d always loved the beach. It reminded him of Liliya, which was hard and when he heard of the sandcastle contest he wrote himself off immediately. The only time he’d ever built one had been with her and other than not having any idea of where to start, it brought up too many memories. When he passed Conrad and his brigade of workers for his masterplan he had to hold back a laugh. “That’s quite an operation you’ve got going there,” he teased.

He’d listened intently as Fane spoke about the effects of drugs and alcohol on vampires and how all that worked with feeding. It was all very interesting. Between that and his sudden embarrassment, he had become absorbed enough to miss marking a few turns. Was it a left and two rights? Right, left, right?

“I’ve got a bit of everything. Oh-” he began only for Owen to change his mind. He heard the wolf out, listening with a smile before responding. “Well you asked for Molly, so I got a bunch of that. I was gonna have some bourbon too, but I’ve got every kind of whiskey you can imagine, rum, vodka, even gin and coke, weed, some pain killers and even some h for old time’s sake since everyone seems to want to know everything about my life here.” The words had left him before he’d really had a chance to think about what he was saying and he immediately regretted it. He stood there for a moment with his mouth open in shock of his own stupidity before speaking.

“That would be correct, yes. I had business to attend to off the Island so I have been away for a while.” He answered before pulling his bag closer to his side at the offer to help and shaking his head. “No need, mate. I might not look it but I can certainly handle a little bag.” He joked before remembering his manners. “The name’s King. Rafferty King but most just call me King. I own the strip club ‘round these parts. You’re one of the new masters, yes?”

“But this isn’t just about the rule”, Chloe started, bitting her lip for a moment before letting it go. How stupid would she sound if she talked to the other Master that she actually felt a connection with King? She was definately smarter than that. She gladly listened to his story, smiling brightly as he explained. “Aha! My second guess would be that she got the werewolf gene from her mother”, she giggled in a cute way. “War? You mean as Supernatural war, or Civil War?”, she tried to remember the History class, doing the math in her head to try to figure out how old he was.

“Yes…” she smiled. “But most of the masters here are rather sparing with their compliments… I suppose they don’t want us becoming too complacent. Or they’re simply ungracious” she shrugged.

“Oh, I will… I will…” he replied, his lips curling into a sadistic smile. “That’s good. I like to see the slaves on their best behaviour. But you’ll likely run into some more trouble-makers sooner or later, unfortunately. It often takes a while to break in the new arrivals…” he stated. “Well, I can’t say that I’ve ever seen much of either of those two, but I’m glad you’ve found something to your liking” he nodded. “Yes, I can understand that… it’s amusing when they try to resist, and always satisfying to see them finally submit to you fully.”

“Yes, yes, I know I’m a sight for sore eyes but at least allow me the chance to put down my things before you badger me. One second to settle down is all I’m asking for and then well, you may have at it. I know you lot missed me.”

“Uh....I’ve never met you, but I’m guessing you were gone for a while or something? I can help with your stuff or whatever?” He offered wanting to appear helpful instead of confused and put off. The vampire didn’t want to start anything with any of the masters, especially not an attractive werewolf like the man before him.

“These outfits really don’t leave a lot to the imagination, do they? Not that I’m at all surprised by that. Well, it’s nice to have some fresh new clothes, for once…”

“If you can call those clothes,” he teased. “But I’m kind of torn about where to look,” the vampire admitted with a smirk. “You’re beautiful, but I’m sure you hear that all the time.”

Chloe laughed softly, “What can I tell in my defense, I was born with this cute face”, she smirked. “But his possessiviness put me more out of trouble than in. I feel protect by it, you know”, she shrugged with another smirk. She listened to his story and nodded. “Wouldn’t you be a werewolf too? Or the vampirism blocked that part of you?”, she asked him. Chloe wanted to know more about their species, and since she started living with Rafferty, she grew fan of werewolves as well. “Is she coming to join you?”

“Yeah, I’m sure you were,” he responded with a smile beginning to worry just a little about flirting with the taken slave with a possessive master. “I’m sure it protects you. I know being claimed does.” Her attitude alone proved that to him, but he knew there was more. “No,” he shook his head realizing the only way it would make sense would be for him to explain it all to her. He sighed heavily before beginning. “Hannah’s mother was a werewolf, I was a human. I found out about her and went to be with her, but there was this crazy war so I got turned in hopes of protecting her. I found some shit out and her pack brainwashed her so I haven’t seen her since I left New Orleans four years ago.” He hoped that would be enough explanation because he was growing tired of ripping open wounds that had only just begun to heal.

He chuckled as the other master listed his complaints. “Yes, she certainly sounds like she could stand to learn a thing or two. You can rest assured, I’ll see to it that she’s whipped into shape…” he smirked, already enjoying the thought of punishing her. “Are there any other slaves that have been giving you trouble?” he wondered. “Or perhaps, slaves that you’ve taken an interest in? Don’t hesitate to rent them out if you like what you see. They live to serve us.”

Fane knew he meant literally whipped and wished he could take his words back, but it was too late. “Just educate her,” he added tersely, hoping it would be more than just a senseless beating. “No,” he answered honestly. Well there was Willow, but that was nothing compared to his interaction with Melody. “I’ve spent time with Maia and Owen, taking them out I mean. They’re really different,” he chuckled, “but I liked both of them. I kinda have a thing for werewolves,” he admitted with shy smile. “I don’t mind a little push back as long as they submit in the end,” he grin broadened.

Chloe felt comfortable near him, he didn’t look like he’d torture or hurt her when she least expected. “He’s kind of blunty, specially with other males around me, but he’s a gentleman. He owns the gentleman’s club, I can take you there if you want”, she suggested with a small smile. “You have a daughter? How something like that can even be possible?”, she didn’t want to sound rude, but this was the first time she had heard of something like that. 

“Well that’s understandable,” he teased. Fane had been known to be jealous, but in a place like this where people were property, it made even more sense for her master to be possessive. “Yeah… it was when I was still human. It’s actually why I became a vampire in the first place, to protect her. It’s a complicated situation.” He felt like he’d told it a million times since coming to the island, but he supposed it was necessary to an extent. Saying he preferred werewolves over his own kind was a statement that needed support.
