It was at the Venice Academy of Fine Arts that Annibale De Lotto (1877–1932), son of a wood sculptor, received his training. It is therefore quite natural that his work would be inspired by the sea and the ordinary people he encountered every day.

"Pure Linfe "(Pure Sap), depicting a young, naked boy, is one of the most important sculptures in Annibale De Lotto's oeuvre, presented in 1903 at the Venice Biennale. Lying on a rock, the boy tries to drink from a spring using a shell to collect the water.
