Asher was really bored at work one day, not much to do really. So he started going through all the national holidays and discovered many he wouldn’t even begin to understand how they became a thing. “Did you know there are thousands of national holidays, do you celebrate anything other than the most notable ones?” He said quirking an eyebrow upward. “October 27th is National Cranky Coworker Day, November 12th is National Happy Hour Day, and January 15th is National Bagel Day.” Asher looked at Isla and laughed “those are all holidays I can get on board with.” 

Isla looked at the  other and her eyes widened slightly. “There  is?” She asked, surprised to hear it as if she was being honest the only holidays she ever celebrated were the obvious once. “I don’t celebrate anything beyond like Christmas, Easter, Halloween.. You know like the once where we actually get time off for it?” She responded before chuckling a little at the once he mentioned. “I mean, those sound like fun! What others are there? Are there any coming up in December?”

It was an easy decision to follow Isla into the bathroom. The harder decision Maddy had to make was actually following through with what would soon happen without admitting the truth to Isla. When the other sexily advised her to lock the door, Maddy threw those concerns from her head immediately and slid the lock on the bathroom door. Her hazel brown gaze never left Isla as the female seemed to have glided over to where Maddy still stood. The kiss started so slow that Maddy found it surprisingly when Isla turned the heat up quickly. It flipped the switch in Maddy. Her hands eagerly responded, one sliding up into her beautiful locks of silky hair and the other palming the small of her back. Maddy took control of the kiss and maneuvered around so Isla was now pressed between the locked bathroom door and Maddy’s body. Her hand skimmed from Isla’s back to her front, teasing the hem of her skirt with her fingers. Maddy was just waiting for some small confirmation before she just went straight for it.

“Oh trust me, that isn’t something I am likely to forget.” Luca teased her as he knew that she could be stubborn. It was something that he was used to when it came to her. Luca braced herself for Isla’s reaction, not sure what his sister would think. He just knew it was better to tell her now in the early stages so she couldn’t be mad at him for keeping secrets. “I mean, nothing has really happened yet. We’ve just been hanging out, but I do think it is heading in that direction.” 

Isla laughed along side her brother’s comment. “i am glad you remember, because I’d hate to  have to remind you.” She teased him with a small nudge with her elbow. The brunette wasn’t sure what to say if  she was being honest, as her relationship with Shelby was kind of complicated? “I see.” She nodded back at him. “Do you like.. Like her? Or it is just a short term fling type of a thing?”

“I am just hoping that you aren’t the only one. I know that some people around here don’t like newcomers that come in and charge things.” Harmony replied as she had heard of people getting backlash for that sort of thing. People loved to be stuck in their ways when it came to stuff.  “But I think you are right. If I change things in the right ways it will be fine.” Harmony added as she was optimistic. She followed Isla towards the bar, glad that she seemed to be making another friend in town.

“I think some people are just more skeptical than others. Especially the older generation who have probably never left the state.” Isla chuckled in a attempt to sound reassuring. “But people will warm up eventually. Especially if they realize it is for the goodness of the town.” The small town people tended to love that sort of thing. Once by the bar, Isla ordered herself another drink, before chugging back the rest of her current one. “What are you drinking tonight?”

“It has seemed to work out for people for years now.” Harper replied as she knew that it was a proven theory. “I think that there is nothing wrong with relying on your gut, but sometimes it is just hard to follow it. But then again, things that are scary are often the things that are worth doing.”

“It most certainly has!” Isla agreed with a small smile as the town kind of prided itself over the fact. “That is true, and I like to think that your gut will kind of just guide you to where you  are supposed to be eventually regardless.”

“Don’t mention it, I don’t mind at all. If I can do someone a favor, I’m all about it.” she smiled, nodding at the other. Nia was the kind of person that could enjoy nearly any kind of drink you put in front of her - whether it be alcohol, non alcohol or anything in between - she really had a taste for all the flavors - but sometimes she herself just needed something as simple as a glass of wine. “I’m a red wine kind of girl myself, so I get it.” she nodded, smiling at the other. She was just about to agree to ordering her a glass of red wine when she heard ‘gin and tonic’ and she nodded, ordering that with her own instead. “I don’t judge, you can be a drinker or a non drinker for all I care, all that’s important to me is if you’re enjoying yourself.” she smiled. “It’s nice to meet you Isla, I’m Nia.”

“Thank you, you are such a gem!” Isla grinned back at the other. It was a small town, and even thought most  people generally  were nice, there were  some exceptions just like it was everywhere else. Not as much as there was in New York though. “Oh red wine  is a classic!” She chuckled, “I love it more with food usually, but tonight I do plan on getting wasted and have  fun.” Not that she needed alcohol for that, but she hadn’t been drinking  in ages and was kind of looking forward to it. “Nice to meet you too, Nia! I love your name!” She smiled, looking over the others shoulder as she spotted a familiar face. “Oh! I am just gonna go say hi to my  friend, then I’ll be right back. Thank you,  again.” She smiled before walking towards her friend who had showed up.

Maddy chuckled at drunk Isla’s mindless rambles, finding the giggly brunette pretty adorable in that moment. The long legs of Isla’s were on full display in her inmate outfit and Maddy couldn’t help but stare at him. Her words stopped her thoughts and Maddy grinned at Isla. “Repeats don’t normally happen with me.” She teased. “Maybe you can be an exception though.” Maddy added with a shrug, trying to play it cool. Maddy was going to comment that using handcuffs would easily be an option for them, but the drunk old high school friend sort of ruined that moment. Isla’s sharp removal of her hands caused Maddy to roll her eyes. Like she was contagious or something. “Yeah, I am. Didn’t seem to be a problem a couple moments ago, hm?”

Isla had let her eyes glance over the other femme quickly  when she mentioned that  repeats didn’t tend to happen with her. Had she really been that much of a fool to think Maddy might actually share the attraction she did towards her? She had gone to clear her throat when she said she might be willing to make an exception with her. “You better!” She said with a small smirk, attempting to put on her threatening voice, but likely failed miserably and sounded more moany than she had intended to. 

The sudden appearance of one of her former class mates from high school  had left Isla feeling caught off guard with the information they had sprung upon her. Lanky Maddy. Her hues glanced over the femme. How did she not see it before? Oh yeah, that is right; she was blinded by attraction towards her, just like she had been in high school. The other had been Isla’s first crush on someone off the same gender. The same crush that had eventually made her come to terms with being bisexual. However, she had only been a young teenager at the time and those kinds of feelings weren’t really spoken about aloud. So Isla had retorted to the one thing she did best back in those days; make the others life difficult. 

“What  the fuck!” She exclaimed,  brows lacing together. “Why didn’t you just tell me that when we met?!” She added, shaking her head slightly in slight disbelief. “Or was this all a part  of  your revenge  plan or whatever?!” Isla could feel  herself growing sick to her stomach. Uncertain whether it was because of her alcohol  intake, the news she had just learned, or the feeling as if her past was back to haunt her. 

“I am just letting the town to what it wants with me, because clearly it has a plan.” Harper replied as she needed to let fate have its way. That was why she had come here, and it had all worked out for her this far. “Maybe I can just never follow my gut and see where that ends up taking me.” 

 “Taking things as they come is a great way of living!” Isla had to agree, even though she was  awful at it herself. She didn’t have  the patience to wait and see whatever fate had in store for her. “Hm, that’d be interesting for sure.” She chuckled, “I rely on my gut too much to do so myself, but I’d be interested to hear how it turns out for you if you decide to try it out.”

“I feel like it just goes without saying, but I do like to remind you I always have your back.” Luca replied as he knew that he’d have Isla’s back no matter what. He cared about his sister deeply, and nothing would change that.  “Don’t freak out or anything, but it’s Shelby Thompson.” He explained as he didn’t really know where things were going yet. They were still in the early stages. 

 “And I appreciate the reminder, because we both know how stubborn I can be.” She chuckled back at him, but in this scenario, Isla knew she was going to need help to kick things off the ground for herself. “Shelby?!” She gasped. The brunette had a strange friendship with the other femme, one that usually resulted in the two of them innocently flirting with one another. “When did that happen? How?” She asked, a million questions running through her mind. 

“I just have a lot of good ideas on how things might really be livened up a bit.”  Harmony added as she had so many fresh ideas. She was just scared to share them all at once. “Some people just hate change though, so I don’t want to introduce them all at once.” Harmony said as she was being smart about it.  “That would be great. I am still looking into places to have a good drink.” 

 Isla was unable to hold back another smile from shaping on her lips. “If that is the case, I am excited to see what you  have in store for this little town.” She chuckled lightly. “Yeah, that is a  good point. I guess it depends on the change, but it is best to not mess with town traditions, that is for sure.” She added, as she knew people would likely be very unhappy about it. “Great!” Isla smiled, “Follow me, the bar is over here.” She said before she began motioning further into the barn. 

Maddy winked at her and her head tilted to one side at Isla’s teasing question. “Mhmm, it would appear that was the officer’s motives.” She answered with a smirk forming across her face. Having the other’s arm under her touch wasn’t enough suddenly… Maddy desperately wanted her hands on Isla, all of her. She audibly groaned when Isla bit her lip, having the urge to bite her lip herself. Maddy’s eyes remained on her as Isla stood up, eyes glancing to the bathroom door when she mentioned it. “Go on. I’ll be there.” Maddy agreed immediately. She waited for Isla to leave and enter the bathroom, downing the rest of her drink while she waited several minutes. Then she stood quickly and headed straight to the bathroom. Her eyes met Isla’s once inside the ladies’ room, smirking at her. “Alright, now, miss Isla, you’ve got me here… Now what?”

“I guess you just sort of get used to it though, right? Like it becomes part of your reality and you just accept it.” Harper said as she was used to living in Bridgeport at this point. She liked the town, even with its’ flaws.  “That seems to be the case. I am always running into people if I want to or not.”

 “I guess in some ways.” Isla nodded in agreement with her words. “You find a way to kind of ignore it and move on I guess.” Or so she did  at least. It was a trait she had picked up in high school. “Yeah, that  is pretty common and unfortunately just something one will have  ot live with.”

Maddy narrowed her eyes at drunk Isla admitting what she herself felt about the other, that she cared… “Well, yeah… You know it’s what a good officer would do.” She lamely tried to play it off, shrugging her shoulders. When Isla swatted and squeezed her shoulder, Maddy grinned and captured her hands in her grip. “So I heard. Anything this certain officer can do for you?” She asked in a teasing tone. Maddy’s eyes raked over the tight prisoner’s outfit on Isla’s body twice before a small smirk came onto her face. “Well, if you wanted me to use handcuffs on you,” She started to say, leaning closer to her before finishing, “you could have just asked me.” Maddy finished in a low, sexy voice. Just then another drunk patron of the event came stumbling out of the Barn, immediately noticing them and giggling. Maddy recognized the other drunk female, a mutual friend of them both back in high school. It appeared she remembered Maddy as she giggled again and slurred out, “Lankyyy Maddddy.” Maddy cringed and her eyes went wide, hoping maybe Isla didn’t hear her say the old nickname they all called her back in high school to tease her…

Isla was too drunk to pick up on the others attempt to play her words off. Instead, she took it literally. “Oh... Right...” The brunette said while looking slightly stunned back at her. “I guess you must be like, really good at your job then.” She added as she draped her arms over her chest and shifted a little on her feet as her head started to swirl a little, or so she thought. Maybe it was spinning. It was too soon to tell. Isla looked from Maddy to the grip she had on her wrists. “Well, I wouldn’t mind a repeat from the other night.” She told her truthfully, even though she was unsure if that was even in the cards for tonight as she was still trying to figure out whether  she cared or not. However, at her following words, Isla brushed it off slightly as if it suddenly didn’t matter, and instead had her lips curve up into a small, playful smirk. “You would have done it, just like that?” She asked her out of curiosity, brown hues shifting in between her own as she gripped tighter onto her bottom lip with her teeth. She had been about to speak once more, when her attention was brought to the person coming out from the barn and towards them. Her lips curved up into a small smile as she recognized the face from high school. She had been about to say something lame in her drunken state, but instead the words that fell from their mouth had the color leave Isla’s face and her attention shift back to Maddy. In one sudden movement, she pulled her hands back from her grip, “You are lanky Maddy?!” She asked. “From high school?!”

“So if you need help with anything, you know where to find me.” Luca replied as he didn’t want for her to be too overwhelmed with things. This sort of stuff could be hard when you were starting out. It was his job to help out with this sort of thing. “Nothing too extreme. I’ve got a date coming  up, or at least I believe it’s a date.” 

“Thank you brother,  I appreciate that.” Isla told him, and meant it. She was fairly  certain as time would go by, she would have a lot of questions he’d be able to help her with answering. “A date?!” Isla asked, sounding  as surprised as she was considering she didn’t think her brother were into anyone at the moment. “Who is the lucky person?”

Conor looked at the girl in front of him shrugging his shoulders, “thank you” he said smiling softly. He wasn’t being exaggerated he was just being truthful. “Alright, well I can’t wait for this to happen” he said smiling softly. “Well I’m sure you can get plenty of people in Bridgeport to help you find out whats best” he said nodding his head. 

 Isla was still trying to map out what route would be the best to go with the items she’d be stocking up on in the store. “Yeah so far people have been very hlepful.” She nodded. “But I would like to start out with options for all genders, just  so people feel welcome and and home, and won’t need to go online to find something that suits them isntead.”

“It does appear that way.” Harper replied with a smile. She had felt at home since she’d gotten here, and that was very special to her. It was good to know that she’d always have a home here, even if she didn’t end up staying forever.  “Oh, I have seen some of those as well. It is hard to avoid people for example.”

 Isla looked at her, before she chuckled softly. “Yes, those would be the kind of things that is inconvenient with living in a small town.” She nodded, “And the worst part is you usually end up running into people when you least expect it or want to, but that it just  pretty common.”
