Joon Woo spluttered in confusion. âThereâs a drakon roaming the grounds and you think weâre going to just take strolls every night? Not to mention the barrier. It was down for a while. I wouldnât be surprised if some monsters got a whiff of demigod during that time and decided to scout the place.â Joon Woo said all this like it was matter-of-fact, but heâd only fueled the anxiety he felt and from how Isang had been behaving all night, he probably felt the same about this entire situation. StillâŚ
âHey,â he smiled, trying to put on an air of confidence, âweâre gonna be fine, Isang. Even if something did come at usâand Iâm not saying it willâwith my powersâI mean if you ignore the whole âunskilledâ aspectâand your brains, I think weâd get by just fine. Youâre a great leader! You help out way more than you know. Like nowâyour presence is more than enough helpâto me at least.â
Running away with his thoughts and feelings, Joon Woo realized heâd been saying quite a lotâand it was embarrassing. He could feel his cheeks redden and the air turn even more humid. The fog increased with it. Wow these powers were a pain. âSorry,â he mumbled.Â
The child of Hypnos stared at his companion, tiny wheels and cogs of his mind grinding painfully in order to process Joon Wooâs words into a more accurate picture of their grim reality. The school officials had ordered student volunteers to notify them immediately if they happened to stumble upon anything that shouldnât be there; dangerous or not. Isang had been terrified to volunteer, of course, but heâd looked at the situation from a completely logical and rational standpoint. Just go to the place, tell an âadultâ if you see the bad thing.
What sort of dream was he actually living in?
A chill gripped him at the base of his spine and spread throughout his body until he could no longer feel his fingertips or nose. Cold sweat beaded his forehead and his already moonkissed complexion sank to an unnatural hue. Joon Wooâs sudden about-face in attitude did nothing to reassure Isang, especially not when heâd now been officially labeled as the âleaderâ of their duo.
As this freshly instilled dread began to subside, Isang sighed heavily, annoyance inching itself into his eyebrow, which rendered a couple sharp twitches. It seemed Joon Woo had managed to dampen his own outlook too, or at least, the atmosphere, because it was growing increasingly foggy in their vicinity. His apology, although appreciated, was not enough to compensate for their worsening conditions.
âYou know, a big advantage to monster hunting would be being able to see the monsters, Joon Woo,â Isang grumbled softly as he gathered what little courage he possessed and began to creep forward again.
