Min Yoongi became king of the constitutional monarchy of Daehan Jeguk when he was sixteen, after his father’s untimely death.  King Hyeonmun had been a phenomenally popular ruler—instrumental in transforming Korea’s agrarian economy to one of the richest in the world.

In contrast, Yoongi has managed to attend 1,342 charity events in the fourteen years since taking the throne.  He knows that when historians tell the story of his reign, they will not be kind.  He just doesn’t really know what to do about it.

That is, until one utterly brilliant (but very Gen-Z) Jeon Jungkook joins his staff as the youngest Chief Minister in a century, eager to solve the mystery of his father’s death. And making things even more complicated: one staunchly anti-monarchist politician gets elected Prime Minister.

“Jungkook,” Jimin says, hands on his hips. “Do you have a vision problem? Are you face blind?”

“Don’t think so?” Jungkook side steps him and kicks open his locker. “Sorry, excuse me, I need to get to physics.”

“You have lunch after that, right? Come sit with me. I hear you’re trying out for the Harvard/MIT math tournament this year, and I was wondering whether you’d decided on what team you’d like to join.”

Jungkook squints at Jimin for a second, reinforcing Jimin’s suspicion that Jeon Jungkook does, indeed, have a vision deficiency. “Sorry, who are you?”

“Park Jimin,” Jimin says for the third time this week. “I am on the math team. I am brilliant. I have heard you’re brilliant. I think we could be brilliant together at the February competition and win first place and put it on our college applications.”

“I’ll keep that in mind, thanks,” Jungkook says. “I need to go to class. Nice to meet you, Jimmy.”
