I love the Evil Dead franchise. Both the old stuff and the new stuff. ED2 is my favorite of the classics followed by the show (then 1 theeeeeen AoD wayyyy at the end).
The new movies though? Something about them fills the Dead Space itch despite not being sci-fi at all. Since EA is sadly going to let Dead Space rot at least I can get some of the body horror and gore vibes from the Evil Dead movies.
I hope Evil Dead Wrath continues this trend of giving us Deadite baddies that would absolutely brutally maim and kill us but look like they'd humor us if we tried to shoot our shot with them.
When I was 16, I went to the doctor for widespread, full body pain. My doctor took one look at me and dismissed my medical concerns as a purely hormonal issue. According to her, my natural, unshaven legs were "abnormally hairy" for a girl my age. She ignored everything I had to say and referred me to a gynecologist.
Just hours later, I was hospitalized for my pain, which was now accompanied by a fever and a heart rate of 160 BPM. I was confused and disoriented, and every blood test pointed towards high levels of inflammation. The doctors, in their report, attributed my symptoms to sepsis.
That wasn't my first time experiencing transphobia in American healthcare hell, but it is by far the most obvious example. My doctor didn't care that I was in pain. She only cared that I, a nonbinary teenager with an F on their birth certificate, didn't meet her expectations of femininity.
This is why it pisses me off when people tell me I'm not really trans, or that I don't experience transphobia as a nonbinary person. I could have fucking died that day, purely because my doctor couldn't see past my nonbinary identity and gender expression.
Man so I remember joining the Alien Isolation subreddit a while back because the game is great right? I think a few years ago. I started to notice this trend of people there taking swipes crapping on Dead Space whenever they could and it was just… so weird to me? It was back when the remake was getting nominated for some awards. Like ‘how dare Dead Space exist and get awards it’s just knock off Alien and Isolation is soooo better’ that’s the vibes I got
And it only happened on the Isolation sub lol. Like you go the larger/general Alien sub and they loved Dead Space over there. Go to the DS sub and they love Aliens. It felt like they were threatened by Dead Space despite Isolation being and playing very different to it lmao.
I unsubbed pretty quick because it was a weird vibe lmao
