I'm taking the ribbons off, but I'm not forgetting.

It is almost impressive (read: fucking alarming) just how many organisations, political parties and public figures manage to make posts marking International Holocaust Memorial Day without mentioning the word “Jewish” even once. Imagine commemorating the worst act of genocide in history without even bothering to mention who the primary victims were. The erasure of the reason for the Holocaust in the first place - murderous, violent, genocidal antisemitism - only contributes to the ongoing rise of it now and allows people to feel righteous and moral in posting about today without having to reckon with how their own behaviour and rhetoric might be contributing to it.
