sometimes i help a stranger because someone i love is a stranger to someone else. i hope the strangers take care of the people i love.

The art of not caring. The act of purposely choosing to not let everything have access to your peace. I’m not talking about detachment, if anything I’m talking about the opposite. I’m talking about focusing your energy on things that nourish you instead of drain you. You cannot go through your life with the weight of the world resting on your shoulders, because eventually you’ll be too exhausted to carry the things that actually matter. And that’s the whole point, to do the things that matter to you, to love the things that matter to you, because a life spent carrying everything that was never yours to hold is a life spent missing what was yours to hold.
