And to his credit, Thor does not hit him. Which I think confuses Loki. I think he fully expected to get punched. But for Thor, something inside finally begins to thaw. Something nameless, perhaps, but something about their relationship begins to change in this scene.

And I very much agree with the fact that Thor not hitting him confuses him, because he thinks that Thor sees him as the monster that he thinks he is (and to be fair, Thor has done a great job of perpetuating this impression up until this point in the movie, with the exception of their sibling banter while they’re flying). I think that in some way, Thor gets this here, even though he obviously doesn’t know about Loki’s guilt over Frigga’s death. I think he starts to understand Loki, even if it’s just a little bit.
