“As time goes on, you’ll understand. What lasts, lasts; what doesn’t, doesn’t. Time solves most things. And what time can’t solve, you have to solve yourself. Is that too much to ask?”

“In an experiment revealing the importance of having friendships, social psychologists have found that perceptions of task difficulty are significantly shaped by the proximity of a friend. In their experimental design, the researchers asked college students to stand at the base of a hill while carrying a weighted backpack and to estimate the steepness of a hill. Some participants stood next to close friends whom they had known a long time, some stood next to friends they had not known for long, and the rest stood alone during the exercise. The students who stood with friends gave significantly lower estimates of the steepness of the hill than those who stood alone. Furthermore, the longer the close friends had known each other, the less steep the hill appeared to the participants involved in the study. In other words, the world looks less difficult when standing next to a close friend.”
— my new favorite psychological study, done by Schnall, Harber, Stefanucci, and Proffitt and published in the Journal of Experimental Social Psychology.
Cute ...
you deserve help at any point in your struggles. don’t wait for it to get worse before you allow yourself to get better

“Each diagnosis brings along with it a series of expectations and assumptions about the person it refers to, including when it applies to yourself. Coming to terms with a new diagnosis can shake the very core of your existence. A diagnosis can put a name to your experiences. It can bring light to places that were previously dark, providing answers that were long hoped for after a lifetime of searching for where things went ‘wrong.’ But while these answers can sometimes lighten our own burden, leading us to redirect the blame we previously internalized to this external diagnosis, it can also lead us to question the good parts of ourselves too.”

“Sometimes we’re made to feel or even told that we’re too much or too little depending on the day, depending on what we’re feeling and facing. Too fat, thin, queer, loud, honest, quiet, weird, unstable, depressed. Never quite right. Never quite up to par. We feel pressed to meet expectations that supposedly dictate if we’re desirable, current, and welcome. And if we don’t meet those marks, we fear people will believe that we are poor employees, parents, friends, or just humans. If we don’t meet those marks, we should apologize. But your existence, as it was, as it is, and yet as it can be, is not something you need to apologize for. Your existence is complex. It warrants grace and growth and patience. You do not need to apologize for being here. For changing. For feeling. For sharing or asking for support. For struggling. For being you. None of these things require forgiveness so stop apologizing for existing.”

Seen on Pueblo’s Facebook. I thought a lot of us could benefit from seeing this. Because it’s very true. Healing is not forgetting or “getting over it”. It is learning to live and cope with things.
The words on the page read:
“throw away the idea that healing is forgetting
the real result is no longer reacting to old triggers with the same intensity as before
the memories are still there, but they do not have the same power over your mind”
lack of motivation feeling life is at a standstill i feel lost and I ask myself if im on the right path alot these days what is it i want in life where do i ultimately want to be how do i get there feeling so lost and stuck feels like i shouldn't be here feels like i should be anywhere but here right now
