It was a beautiful spring day. Sun was shining brightly but it was slightly cold outside so instead going out somewhere you were inside, sitting near the window, silently doodling in your sketchbook. Meanwhile, your boyfriend Bucky was jogging on a treadmill in the spare room which you called ‘the gym’. This was his way of relaxing and clearing his mind. Obviously it would be more fun jogging outside but you wanted to relax a little bit and Bucky didn’t want to jog alone.

Actually, he didn’t like to be alone. A few years ago, when you two still lived in the Avenger headquarters with the other Avengers, he always tried to be with someone in the same room (usually Steve or Sam), and when you two started dating he was always following you like a little lost puppy. You didn’t mind that at all because it was so cute and you always liked his company. And now the two of you happily lived together in this beautiful apartment in Brooklyn. There wasn’t anything more you could ask.

The sound of a ringing phone scared the shit out of you making you jump a little and make a thick black line on your drawing. You sighted heavily; Bucky still hasn’t changed his ringtone even if you asked him to do so a million times already. It was a horrific loud sound and you had no idea why he would even consider choosing this song as his ringtone.

Bucky probably had his earphones on and didn’t hear anything, so you stood up and took his phone from the coffee table with the intention of bringing it to him. You started walking out of the room but then accidentally glimpsed at the phone’s screen and it made you to stop dead in your tracks.

It was the contact’s name that made your heart sink. It was ‘Ellis’ with the pink flower emoji. You had no idea who this Ellis was but what made you worried the most was the fact, that Bucky never added emojis to his contact’s names, not even to yours or Steve’s names.  You had no idea what’s going to happen next but you answered and put the phone next to your ear.

“Hey there, love. I know you promised to call me later but I couldn’t wait any longer! I found this wonderful place that we must visit. It might be the right one. I’ll text you the address so come here ASAP.”

And that was all. The girl was talking very fast but you remember every single word which you repeated over and over again in your head. How could this happen to you? You never thought that Bucky could ever cheat on you. You had few boyfriends who were total assholes but you believed that Bucky was different. After all he was such a gentleman and just a very nice and honest guy. But you were wrong and it made you so sad and furious at the same time.

You felt a lump forming in your throat and tears threatening to well up but you defeated the need of crying. You were a strong independent woman and no man, no matter how strong or pretty, stamp you down. You inhaled sharply and fiercely stormed out of your living room to the gym.

You almost kicked down the door while trying to get in and looked at Bucky. Ex-assassin stopped running the moment he saw you.

“What happened?” He asked while taking off his earphones and stepping down the treadmill.

He wanted to go to you but he stopped once you threw his phone to his head. (Un)fortunately he easily caught it with his hand.

“Oh I don’t know, maybe I found out that you were cheating on me?” You said with a fake smile on your face. You clenched your fists as you waited for him to start talking again.

“I have no idea what you’re talking about.” Bucky giggled out and crossed his hands.

That little piece of shit. He was caught red-handed but he still acted like nothing had happened. And that fuckin’ smug smile on his face literally made your blood boil.

“Why are you still lying to me?” You said and felt your hands starting to tremble. You couldn’t stand his bullshit anymore; you needed for him to start talking and fast. You had to know the answer why would he lie to you, why he would betray you like this. After all what you two have been through, at least what he could do was to be honest.

“I’m not lying. I really have no idea. Please just stay calm, doll…” When he finally saw how furious you actually were he tried to calm you down. Unfortunately it made you angrier.

“Don’t you dare ‘doll’ me!” With these words your whole body went down in flames.

For many years you had full control on your fire manipulation ability but this nonsense with Bucky and that other girl Ellis made you forget all your training and all what you’ve learned over the years. You couldn’t think straight and all you wanted to do was to kick burn your (probably ex?) boyfriend’s ass.

“Oh shit, y/n!” Bucky was a little bit frightened now, especially when you started to move towards him looking like you just jumped out of a volcano. Maybe he was a super soldier but even he could not die in fire.

At a moment Bucky had no idea what to do. He really didn’t know what you were talking about, so saying it again obviously won’t help. He could try talking you out of the idea of setting him on fire but you obviously weren’t in the mood of jokes or friendly chatter.

The ex-assassin started desperately looking around for something that could save his ass from a wrathful goddess of fire that you were and then saw his salvation. He skillfully ran quickly to the other side of the room and grabbed the fire extinguisher. He swiftly pulled the pin and once he got a good aim at you, Bucky pulled the lever and a large amount of foam came out covering you from head to toes.

Once the flames were gone Bucky tossed the empty fire extinguisher and rushed over to you. He heard you sniffle and he hugged you (a big foam mountain) as tight as he can.

“I’m sorry, doll. I didn’t want to do this to you but you left me no choice.” Bucky chuckled and when he felt that you were trying to escape his embrace, he held you even tighter. “I don’t know where you got the idea that I was cheating but believe me, I would never do that.”

“Ellis called. She called you ‘love’ and there was a flower emoji next to her name.” You finally mumbled out. Your burning (pun-intended) rage was gone and now you felt like a sad and little person. You wiped as much foam as you could from your face and shut your eyes off.

“Oh my god.” Bucky exhaled deeply. “Ellis is an event planner. Wanda gave me her number. Actually she herself added Ellis to my contacts so she probably added that flower enuji-thing, too.”

“Oh.” That was all that you could say. You accused Bucky of doing something he didn’t and now you felt horrible. “I’m so sorry.”

“Don’t be, doll. It was just a small mistake. No biggie.” He said and smiled brightly. Jesus, Bucky was the best boyfriend ever. “Hey, after all it was awesome and now you’re all naked under all this foam.” Bucky winked acting overly seductive.

You rolled your eyes but silently chuckled. “James Buchanan Barnes, where did your lovable gentleman’s side go?” You gently slapped his shoulder getting more foam on him. “And if you want to know, I have fireproof underwear so no, I’m not naked.”

“We can always fix that.” He murmured seductively right next to your ear and once you started laughing, he put his lips on yours while you wrapped your hands around his neck.
