i think the new spider-man was such a beautiful movie because it wasn’t about another huge multiversal/“big potato” crisis. it was about being human.
there are so many themes woven into it. maturing through loss. accepting every version of yourself, no matter how much you change. learning to let the people around you help instead of carrying everything alone.
i think that’s why spider-man has always been the people’s superhero. he’s the most down-to-earth one. we relate to him because he struggles the same way we do. one way or another, a lot of us grew up with a spider-man, whether it was Tobey, Andrew, or Tom. and there’s something so comforting about seeing someone with incredible power still having to deal with ordinary life, grief, loneliness, relationships, and simply trying to figure out who they are.
this movie left an imprint on my soul in such a healing way, the same way the new superman movie left me with this quiet hope that things can get better. i love superhero stories that remind you that saving the world is important, but learning how to live in it is just as heroic.
I loved their dynamic in the movie
Peter and Frank should have a brothers dynamic. This way Peter's father figure curse will never reach Frank and Frank will have a buddy to hang out with and not feel guilty over the idea he is replacing his family
I see Frank as the uncle that was super young when Peter came around so now he has a nephew that give him shit and treats him like they’re the same age lol.
Why do I say this so specifically? Personal experience lol.
Our age of strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is collapsing
This movie was so unapologetically New York it was wonderful.
Bad Bunny started playing and my theater started cheering. There’s a halal butcher shop next to a bodega, the kid Peter saved is a wearing a Knicks jersey and there’s a random tourist bus that’s filled with people wearing tacky New York merchandise. My favorite detail is when Empire State turned on its lights to support Spiderman just like how it does in real life with actual events.
The city is alive, vibrant, and in tune with Spider-Man and we see it become its own character rather than just a background setting. Peter finally interacts with the city again as a figure and as a person as well. There’s people who talk to him, who try to help in battles and these are all the moments that make the city a living and breathing home for Peter Parker and Spiderman together.
Tom Holland has such a better Queens accent too and the final moments of the movie are the end credits of everyday New Yorkers living their lives. Just parks, shots of our skyline and the people who make up the city. Idk but like I’m a New Yorker, and I just looked around in my theater and I saw so many people like me all wearing Spiderman merch who were all able to look on screen and see our home represented perfectly.
I liked it too. Not a New Yorker, just a Midwest girlie who appreciated seeing some love being shown so clearly.

songs that peel u like a fruit
i love this guy
''what if you regret it'' then you will expirience regret - a normal and unavoidable part of the human expirience.
many will attempt to "end" the hug after only five to ten seconds of holding you. crucially, this is where the claws come into play
I can't believe we live in a world where there's an AI company unironically called "Palantir," and it isn't a parody. It's a real thing. I remember seeing a picture of an advertisement on here and thinking, "This HAS to be a joke. This is too on-the-nose to be real. They wouldn't honestly name an AI company Palantir, after the Seeing Stones from Lord of the Rings that are supposed to offer knowledge, but famously also might be feeding you misinformation from evil sources because 'we do not know who else may be watching.'" But then here I am listening to the BBC News discussing why the CEO of Palantir just published a Manifesto that sounds like it was written by a supervillain.
