Sleepy Corridors (Draco Malfoy x Reader)
---- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XtDwPLk8EgI&ab_channel=RelaxingAmbienceASMR I'm missing the rain, and feeling kinda sad again. Enjoy. xo, Ina ā”
Note: (FIXED) This takes place during the 3rd year. ----
Draco had been roaming the corridors for awhile now, he felt it was appropriate, since the rain made him feel a kind of melancholy. He just needed to be by himself for a bit⦠Away from them. He soon found himself heading towards the courtyard with his hands in his pockets, he admired the tall ceilings and towering windows, which were being pelleted harshly with drops. The smell of rain on wet stone soon filled his nose, as he reached the courtyard⦠He closed his eyes and then opened them again, solitude. As he continued through the long corridor, something in his peripheral's caught his eye.
It was a figureā¦
Across the courtyard, leaning on the windowless frame.
As he narrowed his eyes to make out the figure better, he knew them to be (Y/n). A third year, like him. Who he barely knew, but usually saw around Hogwarts.
Walking around to the other side, he found them propped up against the frame, completely soaked from head to toe. Sleeping. He thought? As he stepped closer, he was surprised to find them move. "Watch your step there, Malfoyā¦" They warned playfully, their head lazily turning to face him. Wand pointed at him from between their crossed arms. Eyes opening to reveal deep (e/c) orbs. They smirked, "Just resting." Although they seemed certain of themselves, Draco noticed how their eyes were puffy and slightly red. They sniffled.
Noticing his sudden focus, (Y/n) turned to stare at the rain again, breathing in deeply and then letting it out.
"The corridors always sound better in the rain⦠No senseless chatter filling the room. It's better like this." They mumbled, their face being pelleted with drops. But he could have sworn a majority of them weren't even coming from the sky.
They smirked again, then scoffed (seemingly to themselves) āI hardly know you, but I feel like you get it. You know?"
For some reason, he did.
Actually, it kind of made him realize how whenever he'd see (Y/n), they were usually surrounded with people, drowning amongst the other students, and he'd see the way they looked. Even when they were laughing, or cracking jokes with their friends. There was something behind it, something deeper than what they were letting on.
"Yeah," He mumbled, "I get it..."
(Y/n) turned their head again to face Draco, their face remaining unchanging as they stared at him with their deep (e/c) eye's. Somehow quivering with a vulnerability. You could imagine Draco's surprise when (Y/n) leapt from the ledge to come and embrace him, their head buried in his chest. "Just... Let me stay like this for a minute." They mumbled, unmoving from their spot against him.
Draco froze for a moment, not daring to even breathe, until his mind fully grasped the situation. As if in slow motion, he wrapped his arms around (Y/n) and squeezed them tightly, his fingers digging into their soft flesh. It felt like he was hugging himself, and the thought just made him hug (Y/n) tighter.
After awhile, when (Y/n)'s shoulders stopped shaking, they pulled back and wiped their eyes. Their lips quirking into their usual prideful smirk, which looked somewhat convincing, even with their puffy red eyes, "Hm, for some reason⦠I feel better now." They mumbled, their (e/c) eye's lifting to gaze into Draco's, "Would you believe me if I told you⦠That even my parents have never seen me cry? Yet⦠Here I am, crying to a perfect stranger." Draco was quiet as he stared into (Y/n)'s eyes, silence felt better than saying something that might take this moment away from him. After a few minutes of silence and pelleting rain, (Y/n) grabbed their bag from the floor, and gave Draco a final smirk, before they walked away, disappearing down the empty corridor.
The only sounds being thunder to fill the void of their absence. And proof of their presence, Dracoās wet clothes⦠----
It was the next day, and Draco made it his task to find (Y/n). He didn't want them to ever have to feel that way again
But, after awhile of searching with no success, Draco began to ask around.
It was said by some of their "friends", (Y/n) had been transferred to Durmstrang that morning. Apparently they left without even so much as a goodbye, it was as though they had never been there in the first place. Everything they had was gone.
Overcome by a feeling of emptiness, Draco went back to the spot he had last saw them. And was surprised to find an envelope with his name on the front, written in confident cursive.
He quickly opened the envelope, and took out the piece of parchment.
"Draco, I couldn't stomach saying goodbye to you. It would hurt too much after yesterday. But, I want you to know that despite never having known you⦠I consider you someone I can trust. So, someday⦠When I come back to say hello again; It won't be to a stranger, but rather, to a friend. My deepest regards, until next time⦠(Y/n), (Y/l/n)." Although there were feelings that followed after the letter, Draco decided not to indulge them, (Y/n) wouldnāt. So he forced himself to fold the letter again, and put it back. Until, something fell outā¦
It was a moving photograph, of (Y/n).
Who looked just as smug as they had when they were teary eyed, waving at Draco. He let out a wry chuckle, and placed the envelope into the chest pocket of his robes.
He'd definitely wait for (Y/n)⦠----
Thanks for reading! There might be a part two of this, we'll see. Like, maybe (Y/n) will come back for Yule ball or something. Idk⦠Anyway, I hope you enjoyed.
Sorry the character is always so sad.:(
