You probably get praise in your inbox every other week, but Iām still here to congratulate you on your writing. TPATA is extraordinary. And not only because of it being one of handful of depictions of a relationship that has all the canon backing but none of the acknowledgement in fanon, but also in the writing itself. Whether or not you have the time or motivation to complete it one day, I remain grateful it exists at all.

It has been on my mind lately to resume The Poison and The Antidote. Itās crazy to think that I started writing it when I was about 18 and I just turned 22. Time flies. Iāve grown so much as a person and as a writer since I started that fanfic, and itās a little strange looking back and comparing my style today to how I wrote when I was a teen. I am still proud of my work, but there are things I would write differently now that Iām older and wiser. Maybe thatās meant to be, because Rachel starts off at 17 and doesnāt get older and wiser until later chapters.
It makes me smile to see that people still are so fond of TPATA after all this time. Your message has inspired me to go back and look at the drafts for the next chapter. I probably need a lot of lore refreshersā¦ but maybe the time I took away from writing it will make it even better.

holy shit I just realised something and I donāt know if Iām really stupid and have just missed it while everyone knows or not but even if this is obvious, I feel like analysing stuff so here we go :D

āMy family swore they knew best for my lifeā - the Seed brothers, specifically Joseph, swore to Faith that he knew best for her, swore that he was just making her do these things because it would better her and free of her sin
āI followed their rulesā - obvious
āthe shackles I wore canāt be touched nor be seenā - she wore her invisible shackles in her childhood and teenage hood, yes, but she also has them on with Edenās Gate because Joseph put them on her, chaining her to the identity of Faith and keeping her on a pedestal with the threat of killing her like the other Faithās
āwhen I grew old, I was riddled with sinā - when she grew a bit older with the cult, she was full of the sinful deeds she did for Joseph and all the horrors she herself has put on other people
ālocked my soul in the dark, never let the light inā - she never let anybody see her plight, never went back to her old friends (Tracey), never let any of the people pull her from the cult. Her old self was locked up inside her and never let out
āI crawled towards the gate with little time left I cried āwhat have I done?ā as I took my last breathā - This whole verse reminds me of her boss fight with the deputy - near the end of it, she screeches out that she didnāt want any of this, that Joseph made her, which is the only time we see her show regret about all these things that she has done. The mentioning of the gate reminds me of the setting of the boss fight, in the bliss, near the gates.
Anyway, I love analysing shit, itās my inner English student that hasnāt been let out since secondary school
