About the admin:
My name is Petra! I'm an intersex trans woman, and i use it/its pronouns :o). I'm in a happy polyamorous relationship with three other transfems. I also have a severe cognitive disability & brain damage, so please be patient & gentle with me! I may struggle at times to understand you, or may make silly mistakes like typos.
About the project:
I created this project after noticing a need for language to describe the gender identities and sexgender experiences of intersex people! This is something very close to my heart, as someone who has struggled a lot with explaining the way i experience my gender and my transition in relation to my intersexness. I have noticed there is often a lack of sufficient language for intersex people to express their own unique identities and experiences, and it can often lead to things like the misuse of existing terms, conflicting identity labels, or attempting to box ourselves into terminology that doesn't fit us, and only ends up feeling comfortable in the end. This causes intercommunity friction. My hope is to try and help alleviate this issue, as much as I'm able!

I am a transfeminist first and foremost. My stances will always align with keeping my sisters safe & making their voices heard.

FAQ
Who is this project for?
It's for intersex people of all varieties! If you're intersex, it's for you! ANY intersex people may contribute to these discussions and use the terms we come up with! I have no business knowing what your condition is. All I ask is that you analyze your own experiences to determine what fits you best!
2. Why do intersex people need their own terms? Why not use the existing identity labels?
I've long noticed that many of the existing labels can feel unfitting, limiting, or conflicting for intersex individuals. The words we have right now often fail to capture the immense breadth of our varied experiences, upbringings, cultural backgrounds, and the nuances of our CAGABs and anatomy. For example, I don't have an AGAB! I simply wasn't assigned one, my birth certificate lists me as "U" for "Undefined"! Imagine how tricky it can be trying to figure out how to describe my experiences in conversations about sexgender without the language to capture that!
So my goal is to try and develop a framework of terminology to describe intersex-specific sexgender experiences without relying on existing language. I believe that doing so would allow us more autonomy over how we define ourselves, and when autonomy over our identity has been systematically ripped from us, i believe it could be quite refreshing to have language that is ours to use and modify as we see fit, where it would not conflict and cause friction within the broader queer community nor cast unfriendly eyes upon us. Something that s truly ours. Something that is nor borrowed. That is what I dream of.
3. What if an intersex person doesn't want to use these terms? Do you expect all of us to identify this way? What if I personally like the existing terms?
That's fine! I don't mind if other intersex people choose to use existing labels, or their own! You don't have to use the ones we come up with here :o). I simply thought it would be nice to engage with the community and come up with a language all our own! It's completely up to you how you choose to identify. I believe i'll always still refer to myself as transfem, as it's important to me- but I would like a framework to talk about my intersex experiences as well!
4. How will this project be conducted? How will terms be decided?
In a few ways! I'll be using a discord server (will link here as soon as it's up) as a hub to discuss ideas & what people would like to see described, and discuss with people to come up with some terminology through that!
I will also be taking suggestions and community input here on tumblr, so PLEASE feel free to submit any thoughts or ideas you have!
Once we have some ideas and terms thought up, I'll be posting polls both on discord and tumblr to get further input from the community! I may also expand to other social media, such as bluesky and perhaps instagram, if there's enough interest and I think it could be helpful :o).
5. On Transfeminism.
I stand firmly with my sisters and wish for an intersex community that feels safe for intersex trans women like myself. For this reason, i'll state the following both for transparency and to ward off those who wish me ill:
Obviously, absolutely no transmisogyny of any sort will be welcomed here, which includes all varieties of TWERF
I believe TMA/TME are useful terms that give transfems adequate language to describe their oppression. I do not believe these terms are intersex-exclusionary, so long as you are approaching them in a nuanced manner that accounts for intersex people! If you are confused about where you sit, I would be happy to help if you message me privately.
I do not condone lolcowing. I ask that you do not send me callout posts of any sort. If you have a genuine concern about someone, you may speak to me privately.
I believe the term "tr-ns-ndrophobia" (censored to not appear in searches) is transmisogynistic and would appreciate if you do not use or reference it around me. This does not mean I don't think trans men are oppressed or that they don't experience transphobia (they absolutely do!!), just that that particular word was made in bad faith. It fails to understand intersectionality & the reason the term "transmisogyny" was coined, posing itself as the "male equivalent", which doesn't work because men are not oppressed specifically for being men. I've heard some people use the term "transemasculation" to better describe the actual root issue many trans men go through- emasculation- without wrongly implying the existence of structural misandry. I see no issue with using that term instead, personally!
Misogyny exists in all communities. Please love each other, please protect the women in your community spaces- including the intersex community <3
This blog stands with all trans women, even those you find unpalatable. This blog is sex-positive and believes in justice for all wrongly banned users.

Hello! I've started this project to address a persistent problem i've both noticed and experienced within the intersex community!
The problem in question is the lack of adequate language to capture the vast breadth of intersex identity. The words and language we have now often feel inadequate to explain the many variations and nuances of our genders, gender expressions, and experiences with sexgender oppression, CAGAB, etc. This causes friction within the broader LGBTQIA+ community, as it can lead to misuse of existing terms, conflicting identity labels, and more often than not, distress amongst the intersex individuals who are left with no way to describe their own identity.
There are a lot of various terms out there that people have coined to describe hyper-specific experiences, but I find a few issues wading through them- for one, I'm not very MOGAI-savvy, and i'm not alone! Not everyone feels content using these sorts of underrecognized labels. I also find the labeling inconsistent, because the coiners will simply invent words based on their own personal preference. There is also the problem that perhaps you find a term you like, but the OP has vanished, there's no information on it, or it was coined by someone with harmful intentions.
For all these reasons, I've started this project to try to come together and invent a more consistent language & framework of terminology to describe & capture our many intersex identity experiences. My goal with this project is to gather many intersex people so that we as a community can discuss what we'd like to see in terminology, gather info on varied experiences, etc! This project will run entirely on community input.
To achieve this, I'll be running a discord server as a hub of communication, as well as posting on here. You are absolutely welcome to spread this & any posts of mine around! I WANT more input! It's very important to me that I hear as many voices as possible!
After a certain discussion period (which I will always announce), there will be polls to gather the general consensus on preferred terms.
I hope that, together, we as a community can create a language all our own. The idea here is to work out some terminology that doesn't rely on existing terms used by other communities. A language that's ours. I believe that this could be a powerful tool to grant us back the autonomy over the way we identify and describe ourselves that has been stolen from so many of us.

I will mention one small note, though. With all sugar, there's a bit of medicine.
This project is being run by an intersex trans woman. I am a strict transfeminist, and will prioritize the safety of my sisters. This means I am unwilling to speak with groups that I believe wish us ill. I will not restrict you from voting, but I cannot put myself in the dangerous and uncomfortable position of speaking with you on a personal level, such as in a server. I aim to keep my server & community safe for my sisters. If you are confused about whether this includes you, you can check my pinned for further information.
