I get a lot of feelings about kid Reeve because he is literally the only Inspire in the FF7 universe. Can you imagine how crazy that is?? Imagine how he must have felt when he one day accidentally brought something to life?? Like maybe a toy? How freaked out he must have been??

And at first his parents would just brush it off. “Oh? That’s nice Reeve. We’re eating in five minutes. Do wash up love.” But then when they saw Reeve toddle in with his little stuffed rabbit walking after him they’d probably scream—

Reeve has so much cool plot potential, its a shame the games never went into his backstory, or even a clear explanation of how his powers work >_< I don’t know if the Inspire thing is even meant to be canon to the final version, wasn’t that mentioned in development stuff in the Ultimania? Before I read fansites I just assumed Cait Sith was an AI, or Reeve controlled him using some robotic technology instead of being an ordinary doll brought to life through magic. The game really wasn’t clear about that! (Then again the english translation sucked, lol)

I read the tags and wanted to say I agree on the AI part. I really feel he’s best as a mechanic engineer, especially in the creation of animatronics. If he wasn’t just your average electrician/architect for Shinra I imagine he would have been the guy that grew up to invent robots to help disabled people or something of the like. He probably doesn’t think he can do it, and is afraid of not having a steady stream of employment, so treats his gifts as a sort of hobby or pastime. I do like to think that the ‘magic’ (I use the term lightly) of being an Inspire is one that eventually fades, and he’s not bringing things to life as much more as he’s giving them little parts of his own personality.

Which was both figuratively and literally speaking as the tie in question was actualy wrapped around the commissioner’s head at the moment. ( Wasn’t this as well the same case as last time? ) I gave myself a wry shake of head. Ruddy gaze inspected briefly his form before I decided to accept his invitation. “I suppose that would depends….”

“In some setting, it might not be so much of a job at all. What are you having?”

“You know, I’m not quite sure.”

He glanced down at his glass, coming to the conclusion that it must have been scotch or something. Whatever it was, he was rather enjoying it. Most of the times at these parties, he hardly strayed from his usual sherry, or glass of champagne. Tonight, he thought he might have a bit of fun! Contessa had already locked up the lab and he had a car waiting for him whenever he decided to go home. For now, he was content enough to share a drink with an old friend.

“I’m guessing it’s scotch. Or, bourbon perhaps. Whatever it is, I’m certainly enjoying it! Please, Vincent. Join me. It’ll be my treat.”

"If I leave one day, will you come and look for me...?" The question was figurative, and out of the blue. Perhaps it was just the forlorn and lifeless setting of his office that has prompted it, or maybe it was simply how the sun's vermilion shading seemed to be quickly receding into the skyline. The question was asked nevertheless, and despite how claret orbs may not have glanced back, the answer was awaited.

“Whatever do you—”

And Reeve is gawping. Mouth open, words completely gone. Memories flash, various images of their time together. He thinks of the first time they met. He’d been looking through Cait Sith of course, and Vincent had been a towering figure of red a black, something quite frightening, but when Reeve looked at him, he only saw someone that looked so very lost. He thinks of their time on the road together. Then, the first time they met face to face. Their association in the WRO. Their small talks and walks whenever either had a moment to spare. When it came down to it all, Reeve considers Vincent among his closest friends. One of the only people he really, truly trusts. The question comes as such a shock to him, because Valentine has become such an important part of his life now, that imagining one without him was unthinkable.

“Of-- Of course I would!” Cool composure gone with, he stumbles over the words, somewhat angry yes, but mostly distressed. How could Vincent think anything else? After everything they’d been through. “I care deeply for you, you ruddy fool! From your archaic cape--- to your ridiculous shoes. I’d run myself ragged trying to find you, exhaust all my resources just to make sure you were fine. I--.... I consider you my friend, Vincent. And if there’s something I treasure above all things in this world... It’s friends like you.”

It HAD been a long time since they’d seen each other. Months in fact. What with his busy schedule and Valentine’s extended periods of absence... Reeve crossed the room in a swift walk, offering an arm in greeting. A handshake should suffice. He didn’t peg Vincent as the hugging type.

“It’s good to see you again, my friend.”

He cringed, for her words were true. In all their entirety. What could he, the glorified architect hope to do in a situation like this? He was meant for quiet desk work, not battles, or life and death situations. Reeve took a steadying breath and reached for the gun he held onto in case of emergencies. It was more for his own confidence than actual protection, but it would have to do...

❝ You listen to me now, Rosso. Vincent is my good friend, and ally. I’ll not have you speaking of him in such a manner. He might not be here now, but he I can guarantee that he will be here eventually! He’s just... A bit late, that’s all... ❞

The inventor backed a few steps away from the woman. Keeping a steady eye on her. He was a fair shot, but he was certain that bullets from his gun would be like raindrops on her skin.

❝ You can kill me, but all my work will still be here! You can’t stop the WRO, Rosso. ❞
