They both highly temperamental egocentrics. And have no really understanding of "healthy relationship" concept. Also they not communicated for years and grew up differently. Like Pete had to accept the fact Boba Fett incident is IMPORTANT and not just child-absurdity (for a man whose family threw all his collectibles away and forced to act adult)). It's mostly about how much straight and attention (for people like them) they spent to love each other.
--They really like to talk about some shit. Josh kinda likes fucked up stories (from the upper level of iceberg of Pete's live) and Pete accepts the concept of Josh's infodumping (he's even demonstrate active hearing and throw out interesting thoughts like a man who know fandom stuff but not so involved now).
-- Physical comfort. It took time they fully got each other borders (because they both enough awkward to hurt other people unintentionally... or intentionally, yep). They can be cruel like unhealthy childhood friends, but then moodely get into other's personal space (and sometimes being punched back because "it's no time for this, i'm working!!"). Suddenly Josh felt easier to involve in feeling of each other body and touches when it was his old known and less annoying friend. Fortunately, Josh's insensibility let's Pete be as cruel and bloodthirsty as he wants. One day Pete noticed that weird smell of Josh's bed linen seemes "hommy", even if he lost the need of home. After months of separating they both suddenly remember the physicals sensations of each other presents near (even leaving in the fandom in his head Josh)
-- Pete argues and yells at Josh often, mostly because he honestly feel
Josh isn't right in many aspects of life (an opinion of expert who's gonna go to jail for serious crime, yes))). He can't even stand how can Josh be so stupid and stubborn sometimes. But for other people Pete not so involved and not give a fuck if you gonna hurt or die. Go you way, dude! Josh is just special boii Pete wish better life and use his toxic ways to tear him from the ceiling
-- For giving gifts and time: Pete have no big problems to shop for Josh when he's not feel like to go outside or don't have money for delivery. He's even can cook something eatable when in a mood or not distracted. Josh tries to pay him back by making small requests like pic Pete up somewhere in town (but without great joy, being thrown away from his fav activities and schedule and will compensate it with something he likes or with passive aggression))
-- Josh's not really involved in Pete's lore, it's not a science-fiction after all!! But he tries to remember some facts about him and what he's like, especially if they can do it together of he have some benefit's from this. It too decades to him to remember Pete's blootype and other medical information (at the edge of problem situation... he's bad at noticing other people problems at all)). But he remember he likes canned pasta because of collectable shit on it))) Hey, it's even more than he knows and do for his own parents! That's the level!!
-- Didn't draw it here but they both can give stupid cheap selfish gifts for each other. But most precious for Pete was a key for Josh's flat with Darth Maul on a chain. Frome some unpleasant events at work he hides it in storage near place Josh lives
-- For the short Josh likes be heard and liked for being one who he is and can share time but mostly if he interested in activity. And also physically accepts Pete. And Pete likes to touch Josh when they become closer, spend much time for him and needs a comfort and acceptance himself, kinda like this??..
