INQUISTOR / *

         Purely a gut feeling, L surmised his reason. He couldn’t just let her onto one of the most secretive cases without thorough investigation into her background. L’s never given a damn about anyone’s privacy, but ( something about Sayu ) didn’t seem right to go snooping around. Of course, in his better judgement, these incriminating emotions were subsided. ❝ I’ve seen thousands upon thousands of people willing to do just anything for the people they love, and get absolutely nothing in return. Who’s to say Misa wouldn’t run back into the arms of Kira and be caught in this situation again? If she does, it’ll only make a fool out of you. ❞ The last thing L wanted to see is a capable woman dethroned because of soiled reputation born of slip ups easily avoidable. ❝ You aren’t... normal. My behavior isn’t, general speaking, supposed to motivate you. I don’t want my opinion of you to change, so I’m only giving you this one chance. ❞

       L doesn’t doubt the seriousness in her tone, nor does he seek to make anymore remarks about her supposed dedication toward her sister. It’s extremely difficult for him to comprehend now—of all the detail in the case—why someone so bold and apparently brighter than Misa ( he go as far to say half of the detective as well ) would deliberately out themselves instead of finding ANOTHER solution. It’s with great mercy, and uncharacteristic kindness that L pardons her, and let’s her at the very least OBSERVE. Although, despite such a grand gesture, L is one hundred percent certain is would have ended up that way whether he wanted that outcome or not.

        ❝ Doubting Yagami-kun doesn’t anything more than lowering you on our suspect list. I guess that in and of itself is more than enough? ❞  L draws his knees together, pulling at his lip. Watari would USUALLY reprimand him about doing such things in front of a lady, but after Sayu’s display of confidence, L can’t say he cares for APPEARANCES in front of her anymore. He can sense her tension, and smiles to himself, doing nothing to appease it.

L doesn’t think, he’s vehemently aware of his intelligence. So it doesn’t offer much comfort to him when others fail to recognize, or at least try and develop skills near a quarter of his level. It’s NOT rocket science. He rolls his eyes, ducking by the skin of his teeth from the assailant who he’d been telling off. Watari wasn’t there to aid him, not that he was in need of immediate assistance, but—

It takes one glance in another direction, and L nearly pummels the stranger in his way. “S—sorry.” 

      “You do understand. Does your knowledge of this special case go beyond Yagami-kun or are you telling us you’re business is strictly related to Misa?” L mocks a bit with a lithe in his voice hard to catch. He doesn’t mean for it to come off as brazen due to the UPKEEP of his aloof personality, although one has to admit comedic value once in a while. It’s been so long since he, or even Light Yagami’s father have ever heard that honorific, especially when told that his son POSSES not even one true friend.
