We all love the scene in ‘Family’ when the gang come together for Tara even though she hadn’t previously felt part of the group, and no-one other than Willow really knew her yet.

However, I feel like it’s notable, even though they made a joke of it, that Giles already had a gift. He’d made the effort.

Then, the first time we see Tara after ‘Family’, she’s at The Magic Box, and most significantly, considering she had previously felt like an outsider, she’s been there since before the Scoobies, even Willow, arrive, helping out with shelf stocking.

The implication being that Giles has since gone out of his way to make Tara feel welcome. That man got a wiff of Tara’s childhood and immediately signed mental adoption papers.

One year ago, trans women held an iconic topless protest outside the Scottish Parliament. I love it when trans women hold topless demonstrations. If they're arrested, the state must admit they're women. If they aren't, it exposes the obvious contradictions of defining trans women as legally male.
