I am @fayflutter or @crookedmadcrown if you follow my EAH blog or FallenFairy20 if you are on Ao3. For years, I tried to write and rewrite my Ever After High Next Generation: A Legacy Stained in Ink (or for looong time fans A Class of Future Tales).

Only I got busy with life and found myself struggling to find the motivation to continue. As I look back, my greatest regret is not finishing this series....

SO LET'S CHANGE THAT!! 2026 REBOOT, BABY!!

This is where I will be posting updates, worldbuilding, character related info, polls, and other content yet to come.

Shout out to @agoraphcbja and his @sillverandgold AU. Many of these ideas are inspired by Silver and Gold-verse (please go read the fanfic/follow it, it's so good!) so don't be surprised if you see some familiar concepts.

Now on to the Q&A!

Q: What is An Ink Stained Legacy?

AISL is a Ever After High Next Generation Bad End AU where we ask the question: What if Raven signed the Storybook of Legends on Legacy Day? How is Raven affected by this decision? How are Apple, Maddie, and the rest of the cast affected by this choice? And how does it affect the next generation?

Q: Do I need to read the older fics to understand this one?

Nope, you do not need to read the previous fics or know any of the characters as it is a 2026 reboot of the series.

Q: How much of this follows canon?

It branches off during Legacy Day and will feature worldbuilding outside what we consider canon (such as laws, true love matches, how children for certain destinies are selected, and more).

Q: Will any of the Ever After High characters show up?

Yes, as this will feature their children and about the choices they made during their time at EAH AND after when they are adults.

Q: Are we able to send asks?

Continuing on from my the students taking on multiple destinies, becoming their parent isn’t the only fate that awaits them.

For some, they are signing their lives away, they will die as a result of their destiny.

Obviously we have Duchess who is trapped as a swan forever which could count as a death or one version where both Odette and the prince throw themselves off the cliffs.

Meshell Mermaid where in the Hans Christian Anderson version also throws herself off and turns to seafoam.

Sparrow Hood who is betrayed by letting someone draw too much blood and fires one last arrow out the window telling Little John to bury him where it lands.

King Arthur is also infamously betrayed and killed.

Ramona Wolf who has to endure not only stones placed in her stomach which is then stitched back up but also drowns in a well or river bc the weight of the stones is too much for her.

Ginger Breadhouse is burned alive in her own oven. (I know in the books her mother escaped out a secret hatch, but still trapped in an oven…).

I don’t need to explain Briar, she’s asleep for 100 years that might as well be a death sentence.

Not to mention the rest of the unnamed students who walk the halls.

My next gen ocs: So are we going to have a cute fantasy high school plot with a dash of teenage drama, mystery, and fairy tale hijinks?

Me: (Glances at my future plot lines) ….sure, totally.

Me: (Realizes half of the og cast aren’t alive or given horrible fates in the future if they sign their destinies)

Me: But at least my favorite is safe! (hugs Madeline Hatter)

Me: (frantically connecting yarn to a board like a conspiracy theorist) but what if the dwarves are second class citizens? Reduced to mere accessories to the ruling class and currently fighting for equal rights? And the twins from Sun, Moon, and Talia were the second Sleeping Beauty and the first Beauty of Beauty and the Beast? Are the stories that they honor that they swear are true to the original events, but actually have been twisted so much over generations that no one can truly recall what really happened? Does therapy exist in Ever After?! Is divorce even a thing? Is there propaganda about following your destiny? To keep the people in line and compliant? Are their history books even true or is it all fabricated lies to keep the status quo the same? IS EVER AFTER HIGH SECRETLY A YA DYSTOPIA??

What's there to say about Wonderland? Well, it's Wonderlandiful!

Wonderland is currently run by three queens; The Red Queen, the White Queen, and The Queen of Hearts. Divided up between them, the realm is ruled, though there are pieces of land that not even they dare touch.

The title of Queen does not have to be held specifically by a woman, a man can be a Queen, even a them or an it can be a Queen if it so wished. A Queen is a Queen no matter what form she/he/they/it may take.

Alice's Adventures in Wonderland is one of the tales where a child lead encounters adult characters. This means Alistair would encounter Maddie's father, Kitty's mom, Lizzie's mother rather than him with Maddie, Kitty, and Lizzie. His child would meet them, but not him.

Alice's Adventures in Wonderland wasn't apart of the original storybook of legends when the first Grimms wrote in its pages.

The Wonderland Grove is the product of what happens when Wonderland magic leaks into Ever After. It was contained to that tiny small corner of the realm, but it forever changed the environment the magic now inhabits. Only few outside of the Wonderlanders know how to get there or even are aware of its existence.

Same with the Well of Wonder, it is chaotic and sporadic, never staying in one place for very long. It acts as a bridge between Ever After and Wonderland. Of course, you have to find it first which is no easy task unless you have a map.

One of the few who can easily travel through the realms without a well, is the White Rabbit which includes Bunny Blanc and her father.

The Queen of Hearts has a thousand and one rules that one must follow in her court and that amount changes like the wind and with the queen's temper.

While the present Queen of Hearts uses red paint on white roses, in the past there was one infamous queen who used the blood of those she executed to paint the roses red. Bloody Queen Marianne believed that it added a particular shine to the roses.

(Yes, I know that’s the name of the kingdom in Tangled and this is not Disney but if they can rename it in Descendants to freaking Tangleton and that’s not even the WORST one, then I can have Corona for Ever After High!).

The kingdom of Corona is home to the Rapunzel story.

The Rapunzel story works differently from other stories. The story actually begins when the heir is born and is kidnapped soon after their birth. She remains trapped in a tower until a hero/prince rescues her and she are reunited with her family.

Essentially, Holly was unaware that she was Rapunzel until she was found by her prince and escaped her tower. She completed her destiny without fully knowing what it was. So Holly is signing for her daughter, not herself.

Corona is known for its beautiful towers, salons, and, of course, lantern festivals.

So a very very long time ago before destiny dug itself deep into Ever After’s heart and sowed into the hearts of its people, the realm was a young, chaotic land. The tales were just starting to emerge and be born into reality.

The Fairies of the Moors were once rebel refugees who were fled from the original Fairyland by a tyrannical fairy queen (it was either that or be executed). The rebels made their home in the Moor and began to adapt to their new environment, creating a completely new species of fairy called Moor Fairies.

Their magic differs from regular fairies as they aren’t bound by the same rules and binds their cousins are (like fairy godmothers and their spells fading at midnight).

They kept to themselves and were a reclusive race, rarely showing themselves to humans, but like with any fairy, they HATE being slighted.

So when a mortal king refused to acknowledge their territory as their home and tried to take the land for his own kingdom? The moor fairies fought back.

Eventually their leader snuck the mortal courts during the christening of the young princess and cursed her to teach the king a lesson.

From that moment on, the narrative was changed, lies were whispered and a story was woven into being.

The Evil Queen's Kingdom or the Darklands is a place shrouded in mystery and wickedness...at least on the surface. Despite its namesake and gothic aesthetic, the Darklands is actually a very pleasant place to live.

In truth, the Darklands holds one of the largest population of villain, minion, and creature residents (orcs, trolls, goblins, fairies etc) in all of Ever After. This is due to the fact that it is one of the few kingdoms in the realm that doesn't discriminate or show prejudice towards its own civilians.

This is because the Evil Queens of the past weren't "evil" rulers, they knew how to keep their people happy and satisfied. They knew how to run a kingdom, and they knew better not to drive it into the ground like some other kingdoms.

It's economy is also flourishing as opposed to Snow White's which is falling into a very sharp decline

When an Evil Queen is to produce an heir, it is usually with someone of no importance, but Raven's mother was the exception, not only staying with her Good King, but producing Raven with him. This created a ripple effect as no evil queen had ever stayed with their good king for long AND create a child with them.

Not even her closest friends or advisors know what happened to Queen Eris for her to go off script, perhaps it was the overwhelming pressure to be villainous, good intentions gone horribly wrong, or just pure insanity. But she paid the price; condemned to mirror prison for life.

Decided to explore the two Beauty Kingdoms: Beauregard (Sleeping Beauty) and Beaumont (Beauty and the Beast).

Beauregard-The Valley of Briars

It's the older kingdom with Sleeping Beauty originating first before Beauty and the Beast. It was originally ruled by Queen Talia Rose "Sleeping Beauty" Beauregard and later her older daughter, Aurora Rose Beauregard. The first version of the tale was called Sun, Moon, and Talia before it was changed to Sleeping Beauty 100 years later.

Beauregard is surrounded by mountains and woodlands.

When the Sleeping Beauty falls asleep, the entire kingdom goes under too.

One of its significant locations is the Moors, a smaller kingdom that was founded by colony of fairies who escaped the tyrannical rule of the fairy queen at the time. They vilified as "dark" fairies for betraying their kind, they leaned into the role so much they created a whole new magic type. The Dark Fairy is its leader, acting as the Moors' representation.

Hidden in the kingdom is the Fall Rose, a rose that was enchanted by the original 12 fairies as a gift to the first Sleeping Beauty. It is protected in the kingdom's highest and tallest tower surrounded by roses. Many have tried to take it for themselves but have failed.

Beaumont-The Beautiful Meadows

The kingdom and its story originated a generation after Sleeping Beauty. The first Beauty was actually the other younger twin from the story of Sun, Moon, and Talia: Princess Belle Beauregard.

Because she didn't have a role in Sleeping Beauty, Belle was able to escape the curse and make a home in a village with her father and younger sisters. She had no idea this would kickstart a brand new tale: Beauty and the Beast.

The once small village that was Belle's home has become the capital of the kingdom over the generations.

Many Charmings view the Beast destiny as a stain on the destined prince, giving the role a bad reputation for being beastly. Because of this, it created conflict between Briar's father and Rosabella's father.

Since people liked my Snow White kingdom post, I decided to continue with my Ever After world building this time with the Glass Kingdom or Cinderella's Kingdom!

Like with Snow White, Cinderella is one of the founding kingdoms and one of its societal pillars in the realm.

Unlike Snow White, the Glass Kingdom is doing much, much better under its ruling family's rule. The major contributing factor in this is because their ruler understands the hardships of their people, because Cinderella was once one of them.

The role of Cinderella is unique as it is not familial like many noble destinies, instead a commoner is chosen to fill the role. In the eyes of the Grimm at the time, Cinderella can't be a princess or a noble, it wouldn't true to the story. Instead she is chosen through a magical lottery. One lucky girl, one lucky destiny less will become Cinderella. Once the girl goes to the ball, dances with the prince and marries him, she is no longer Cinderella, but the queen of the kingdom. Other roles in other stories also go through a similar magic lottery, though Cinderella is one of the lottery's few royal destinies.

The role of the evil stepparent and stepsiblings can also vary such as an uncle/aunt and cousins or a stepfather and stepbrothers. As long as they fulfill the purpose of an abusive, cruel figure to the Cinderella, they are considered evil steps.

In Ink Stained Legacy AU, with Raven signing the storybook of legends, Dexter is not allowed to pursue her as it isn't his destiny. But if he can't, then what should his destiny be and who should he be with?

Originally I had him with Ashlynn Ella, but now I'm considering other ideas as well.

I have a couple of candidates, but I don't know which one to go with.

Thus I turn to you, the community!!

Obviously, I have a whole cast of characters, but here are the main three!

Demure Charming

The younger (older) twin daughter of Snow White and Daring Charming and the spare of the White kingdom. Demure is curious, awkward, and clumsy mainly due to being forced not wear her glasses by her mother. She isn't close with either of her parents with her mother favoring Ambrosia and her absent father. Unlike her sister and others in her class, Demure doesn't know what her destiny is and must wait until Legacy Day to find out what her story is (does she even want a story?). She possesses a great love for magic, once left alone in a wizard's tower by her grandparents when she was young. But delicate damsels like her shouldn't know magic or try to learn it, that doesn't stop her from reading a book or two on the subject. But will her destiny keep her in line? Or will she go off the path herself?

Talon Queen

The son of the Evil Queen, he barely has any memories of her and the ones he do scare him. When his mother was...sent away (why? Why did she leave him?), the boy was placed under the care of his grandmother, the previous Evil Queen, so that she could mold a real villain out of him. What they got was a quiet boy so paranoid that he's frightened of his own shadow. A gaunty, dark figure on the surface, he possesses a brilliant mind, but struggles with social interactions. He avoids people and is pretty good at blending in with the shadows. Talon is not sure what to make of his destiny yet it looms over his head his whole life like the sword of Damocles. All he wants is to be left alone and go back to his laboratory, is that too much to ask?
