At that point it’s too late isn’t it? Or at least at the point the person and the hypothetical love interest have mutual feelings. At the point where they keep going on about each other. Definitely at the point where you are sitting at their wedding taking pictures since you were appointed for the job….
Too late to get stomach aches about it now. Regardless one thing remains:
“ At that point you give up, right? “
Without warning, the subject at hand had taken a more melancholy turn. The air shifted ever so slightly and she was torn away once again from her usual banter and back to a reality she was not sure if she actually wanted to face right now given the fact she was so far away from home. And she wasn’t exactly sure what had brought about the somewhat bittersweet mood -- she really should of learned when to cease with her endless rambles -- but she could tell that his detached tone seemed somehow more then what it had initially appeared.
It hadn’t struck her that they would of been similar, but perhaps they were more alike then they actually cared to admit.
“It depends on what you define as giving up.”
The answer probably seemed a little vague and almost like some kind of escape away from what the actual subject was. The inking assistant shook her head gently, gathering her thoughts to clearly say what she thought she meant.
“I mean.. well, when you really love someone -- don’t you want to see them happy? Wouldn’t their happiness mean a lot to you? Even if that happiness wasn’t with you, would you still want them to find it?”
She couldn’t imagine a life where Nozaki found someone else he was interested in, but she hoped that if a day like that ever did come.. well, hopefully she would be mature enough to come to terms with it and recognize that she loved him regardless of if he was in love with her or not.
Oh, but she probably sounded like a hypocrite after shouting to the heavens that she wasn’t going to give up.
“ -- I mean.. don’t just lay down and die like a dog or something,” she rekindles her flustered nature a second later, shaking her head a few times. “Fight with all you’ve got first so even if you don’t come out on top.. well.. er.. you know you did your best?”

sinisternocturne:
“My sincerest apologies, miss.”
Edward had been sitting on the bench for a few moments, with his finger in a slim book with a brown and murky-looking art piece on the cover. He glanced up at the stars, and then at the ginger-haired girl beside him.
“I didn’t mean to frighten you.”
“Th-That’s alright..”
The more petite of the pair spared the male beside her a glance before she sighed inwardly. He really didn’t have anything to apologize about -- she was probably disturbing him by nearly screeching at his presence -- especially considering this was a public venue that was opened to everyone. It wasn’t out of the ordinary for someone else to take up space on a bench beside her.
“I’m sorry,” she said after a moment, her gaze shifting from him to the stars above. She allowed herself a small smile. “I didn’t mean to freak out like that. I guess this place still has me on edge. Pretty silly, huh?”

“If there’s anything you need, don’t hesitate to give me a knock, now that you’re back, I want to make the most of it. Because you’re here again, it’s unlikely you’d vanish suddenly, but I won’t let my guard down for them to take you away. You’re too important to be careless about remembering to show that I care about you.
Say everything you want to, it’d be a pleasure to hear what everything is like at your home". Not that he could bring himself to do the same; there was so much he would hesitate, or outright hide from her; news he’d not yet been able to handle, and couldn’t be sure how she might. Which he might break down in the midst of iterating.
She needn’t know; she’d had enough happen so suddenly. Having her back was enough. He turned to her, feigning a smile, a small laugh. “Quite a lot happened while you were gone; the city seems unforgiving if you blink, let alone spend some time away”.
Everything seemed so surreal --
She couldn’t help but momentarily doubt how fortunate she’d become over such a short period of time -- finding her friend again in this forsaken city, being able to reunite so early upon her reappearance and uncovering that they were less than five minutes away from each other. She wasn’t sure who exactly was smiling down on her from the heavens, but she would surely thank her lucky stars and count her blessings next time she had the chance.
With a fresh bout of excitement pouring over her lithe frame, the ginger-haired girl nodded vigorously. There had never been a moment that she doubted his sincerity and she could already predict herself spending lots of time at his apartment. Hopefully once she managed to spruce hers up to be more presentable -- she still lacked in touching up on it’s charm and appeal -- then they could be over there as well. There were so many things she’d want to touch base on about.. but it seemed that there just weren’t enough hours in the day to grasp in order to push the subject.
She was almost thankful that school was not a requirement here... almost.
“Oh, that’s great we are so close to each other! Do you live with anyone? What are your roommates like? Are they nice? Do you room with Kashima-ku -- oh wait, you said that you only saw her a few times,” she laughed sheepishly as they neared the tram and gradually begin to slow down nearing the platform.
She felt breathless -- overcome with such a wash of relief and happiness. And the fact that he so determinedly stated that he would look over her brought another wave of emotions and a splash of calico to her cheeks.
“A-Aichi-kun..! Th-Thank you..” she said a little shyly, both delighted and surprised with is proclamation. He was such a wonderful friend.. she could only hope her own friends would get to meet him someday soon as well.
At his next line, she blinked -- he seemed a little melancholy in his vague description, but she didn’t want to press on the subject. Instead, she opted to squeeze his hand reassuringly as they finally came to a complete stop.
“-- But we’re together again, so it was at least kind enough to do that..”

“You. Me. Cuddle. Now.”
“Don’t move, I just got comfy.”
“I’m scared, hold me!”
“I bit my lip. Will you kiss it better?”
“Tickle war has been declared!”
“Bunny pyjamas, really?”
“I’ve never seen so many kittens in one place.”
“Come on, just one bite.”
“How do you accidentally buy sixty birthday cakes?”
“I never imagined you were so… ticklish.”
“You’re so huggable.”
“You’re under arrest for being too cute. Put your hands where I can hold them.”
“Have you fallen asleep on me?”
“Am I dead?”
“Another one?”
“And what if I don’t?”
“Are you afraid of God?”
“Are you crazy?”
“Are you lost?”
“Are you really that shallow?”
“Are you sure it’s okay?”
“Are you sure there were no…
“How do you really feel about me?”
“Can’t you pretend to love me this once?”
“Would you care if I was gone?”
“Don’t you know the hell I go through to keep you safe?”
“I can’t take this any longer. Help me.”
“Deep down, you’re scared. Aren’t you?”
“You’ll stay alone if you push others away.”
“How many lives have you taken with your own hands?”
“Just for today. Please.”
“You’re the only one who’s never called me that…”
“We can make it work! Let’s run away together, you and me!”
“I… have loved you this whole time.”
“Treat me as you see fit. I’ll still protect you. It’s my role after all.”
“Maybe it’s too much for me to expect kindness.”
“You give me meaning, even if you take it away.”
“Please… hold me. Don’t say anything, just… hold me.”
“Woah, when did you get that?”
“Who did this to you?”
“How many time have I told you to be more careful?”
“You’re saying this was an accident?”
“What a shiner!”
“If you look like this, I’d hate to see the other guy.”
“I’m not buying it, you don’t walk into a door and get a bruise like that!”
“Does it hurt when I touch it?”
“Let me kiss it better.”
“If you don’t rest, you won’t heal.”
“Another fight?”
“What happened to your face?”
“I don’t think your arm is meant to bend like that…”
“Let’s get you to bed.”
“Let’s get you to the hospital.”
“Why are you so calm about this?”
“You’re bleeding!”
“What are friends for, ey?”
“So, instead of helping you, they ran off the moment they saw what was happening?”
“You need to look where you’re going.”
“I’m not accusing anyone, I’m just saying it looks suspicious.”
“Do you want to tell me what really happened?”
“Don’t move! You’ll faint!”
“I’ve got some bandages, wait a sec.”
“You’re the clumsiest person I know.”
“I won’t let you be on your own, not when you’re like this.”
“How could you be so careless?”
“I can’t even look at you, you promised not to get into any more fights!”
“H-how many of them were there?”
“Do you want to build a snowman?”
“The past is in the past.”
“I’m where I’m meant to be.”
“I know you!”
“A dream is a wish your heart makes.”
“People down here think I’m crazy, but I don’t care.”
“For once, it might be grand to have someone understand.”
“Just look at the world around you!”
“Someday my prince will come.”
“If you had the chance to change your fate, would you?”
“If you cut it down, then you’ll never know.”
“But you’ll never know me.”
“Don’t you dare close your eyes.”
omnivident:
Taking the girl’s hand, Leo managed to pull himself back, giving her a small smile. “Mm, don’t worry about it..” the brunet assured her, keeping his voice low as to not continue to disturb the other citizens that were making use of the library. “I guess I’m just a bit of a klutz aha…”
Maybe later, he will notice a small scrape on his arm, but that was nothing compared to all the other times he’s ended up in a hospital due to his clumsiness.
In fact, he was just glad that he had been able to help the stranger with her issue- a tiny bruise didn’t mean a thing in comparison. “I just hope I got the correct book, haha..” Leo joked quietly, scratching the back of his neck with a quiet, embarrassed laugh. It would be quite disappointing if he ended up screwing up the one thing that she had asked him to do, after all.
With the same small smile and just a little bit of awkwardness, the brunet motioned to the table, “so.. should we sit? I- I mean, if you don’t mind me sitting with you..”
“No, it’s the right one -- thank you very much for helping me.”
The inking assistant nodded somewhat shyly towards the male before her, clutching said paperback in her arms and making sure to confirm that he had gotten the correct title for her to read. Knowing that he may of gotten a little roughed up in the process of helping her made her feel a little guilty, but she was truly grateful for his assistance.
Once he was back on his feet and brushing off the dusty aftermath of his fall, she spared him another smile and nodded. She’d love the company. It wasn’t very often that she had the opportunity to make new friends.
“Of course not! You’re more then welcome to sit with me,” she said as she scanned their surrounding area for a table. She spotted one a few meters away that appeared unoccupied and gestured to it. “How about that one over there? Let’s -- oh wait, how silly of me.. I didn’t introduce myself..”
“My name is Sakura Chiyo. It’s really nice to meet you.. thank you again for your help.”
missmakepeace:
“Indeed- I must say, Halloween is one of the best parts of the year! I’ve already gotten to work on my costume.”
“Do you make your own?!” she asked excitedly, her eyes sparkling as she thought of a dress-up party where she and Nozaki-kun could actually have matching outfits. She giggled at the thought, clasping her hands together.
immortalbreaking:
Being questioned when out and about was nothing unique to Tsubaki, but being called out to in this city’s boundaries never failed to make her falter. She had no status in this place, and her uniform no longer was a sign of position to others–there simply was no reason for anyone to accost her.
Which was why, when a young voice called out in her direction, she turned with only an expression of surprise. And furthermore, confusion for the question itself.
A finger pointed as herself to clarify that she was actually the target of the girls words. “What…show?” ‘Cosplay’ sounded somewhat familiar, but it was beyond Tsubaki’s grasp. With a slow shake of her head she continued.
“I’m… not from any show. If that’s what you’re asking.” That seemed to be the case, at any rate. As familiar as any NOL uniform was, it was definitely unlikely anyone would know one from any show.
It came as a bit of a surprise to hear that the other had not been cosplaying as the smaller female at initially predicted. She’d seen so many strange costumes in this world -- she’d only assumed that was what they were originally for -- that it seemed a bit odd that they were everyday clothing.
“Oh, you’re not..?” she seemed to still question it considering the other was dressed up in some sort of uniform, but quickly dismissed the idea so as not to be rude. Perhaps they were actually some kind of military officer here or something along those lines. “I’m sorry about that! Ah, but.. that’s a little disappointing..”
The inking assistant clicked her tongue as she studied the other. She’d really wanted to get a good sketch of it as a reference for the newest chapters of Nozaki-kun’s manga.. maybe she still could if she asked politely. She spared the taller female a smile and gestured to the sketchbook in her hands.
“Do you still mind if I take a quick drawing of you?”
excessiveknitting:
There came the words flooding and smashing against him with a rapid force. Seemed like mentioning this Nozaki guy had crashed a dam of which existence he hadn’t known of….
Either way she didn’t leave room for misinterpretation. So blindingly bright that he had to turn his head for a moment to shake off the glitter. Sekine had to say he was envious to how upfront she managed to be though. And to how she spoke of it with such an energy. He could never do that.
Well, he wasn’t so happy to be compared into an oblivious guy like that though.
“ I see. “
“ ………..isn’t that painful though? “
“ — Painful?”
Without warning, she was torn away from her tirade about how absolutely magnificent the object of her affections was and was instead prompted with a question she’d heard once or twice before. It was a rarity to hear it as mostly everyone who knew about her borderline obsession chalked up her enthusiasm to extreme perseverance and often encouraged her in their own way. She could recall one of her female frames stating that if she was never noticed then surely the mangaka would never actually get a girlfriend.
The inking assistant couldn’t help but tilt her head to the side in momentary confusion before she realized what the towering male in front of her actually meant and allowed herself a sheepish smile.
“Uhm — well, it probably looks a bit depressing,” she laughed despite herself and gently rubbed the back of her neck. The countless times she’d been obliviously rejected had always left a scar on her heart, but she couldn’t give up. What kind of anything would she be if she simply just threw away her feelings because someone didn’t notice them? After all, it wasn’t like he had straight-forwardly rejected her.. so there was that little bit of hope to hold onto.
“.. I’m not going to give up though! Nozaki-kun will have to notice me one day,” she said confidently, balling her tiny fingers into a fist. “Even if he told me that he was in love with someone else, I will still do my best to make him want to be with me instead! After all, I’ve done everything to help him and I’ll even --
-- Ahh, but what if he does like someone else?!”

femaleprincecharming:
The day was beautiful and amazing, especially after being able to spend some time with Hor-Senpai. Though he hasn’t said much, knowing that he was still around here was good enough for her. Not to mention being able to hang out with Mikoshiba for a while was nice too. it was great to see them all again. However it would be nice to have female company too. At least the girls that she knew more then anything. it was nice to hang out with them, go out shopping together or go to festivals that this city had once in a while.
Lost in that thought, Kashima felt someone bump into her. that hardly happened, unless the other wasn’t paying attention. looking down to see who it was, Kashima’s eyes widen in shock at the familiar bows the young girl had on her head. They had both looked at one another in surprise, but Kashima’s own expression quickly turned into joy as she hugged her friend.
“Chiyo-chan! Chiyo-chan I can’t believe it’s really you here! I miss you so much, you have no idea what I’ve been through here, it’s been kind of adventurous, but I really miss all my friends back home.”
There was no way Kashima was going to let her go for a moment. At least not until she squeeze her a little longer. “Ah– how long have you been here? I could have called you, but you don’t seem to have a phone with you, right?”
“ — K-Kashima-kun!!”
The sudden wash of elation that struck her was something akin to a tidal wave, similar to the same strong emotion that had came over her when she’d stumbled upon another friend only a few days prior from this. Perhaps somewhere in the back of her mind she had thought it was naive to think that both herself and the people whom she held so dear would be reunited under these dire circumstances. She’d learned over the past few weeks that the city was unforgiving in a way, much like how life naturally was, but she never imagined that it would be so kind as to grace her with the presence of another from her own realm.
She struggled to convey the bittersweet feelings into sensible words, but found it more difficult to do so than ever before -- especially considering her handsome friend was literally hugging the very life out of her.
“I-I missed you too, Kashima-kun,” she managed out between gasps for air, nervous laughter bubbling up inside of her. She was glad to see her friend, but she wasn’t sure she’d be conscious to continue the conversation at this rate. In an attempt to loosen the others hold, the inking assistant gently patted the arms that encircled her.
“It’s been a few weeks now.. no, maybe a month?” the more petite female thought back, but found it hard to recall the exact amount of time. She’d have to ask Aichi next time she saw him.. perhaps he would of remembered. “I don’t have a phone yet, but one of my friends does. I should of asked him to--”
A pause as she felt another bear hug and she gasped, “ -- oh, too tight!”
Sorry for the super late replies that will be coming your way between today and the next few days!! Listening to her talk, Ari has the chance to watch her, taking in the enthusiastic, animated way she speaks and finding that the girl has a sort of excitable charm about her that reminds her of how excitable she’d been at that age.
"What? Sorry why?” Blinking down at her, puzzled, Ari realizes she thinks she’s talked too much, and has to try very hard not to smile.
“Hey now, I kinda brought it up, so I sure don’t mind listenin’ none. You said y’ had more at home– that mean that y’ only got one pair here?”
“Uhm, yes -- that’s right.”
The inking assistant smiles gently in response, glad to hear that the other female was encouraging her little spell of talkativeness. There’d been several times where she’d attempted to strike up conversation with others, but it had ultimately been dragged through the mud. It didn’t seem that anyone was much of a conversationalist here, but she supposed that neither would she of been had she not been rather optimistic as she was.
“I’ve got a whole collection at home,” she explains, nodding her head and gesturing to the ribbons atop her head. “I’m not sure how I was pulled to get here.. but when I did.. well, I’ve only got what is on my person now.”
pigdazzling:
Though she was still a bit shaken up at the near death experience, or rather another one to add to the pile, Mabel slowly started to smile. This person had gone out of their way to help her and Waddles, and it was really something!
“Thanks… We’re okay, yeah.”
“I’m fine, honest, so is my, snrk, piggy, too,” Mabel couldn’t help but laugh at Waddles being called that. It was pretty cute.
“His name is Waddles.”
She didn’t want to set him down just yet, not after that close call. She did feel embarrassed, of course, since the almost accident had been her fault, or it would have been.
“Uhm, you didn’t get hurt or anything, right? I’m, uh, Mabel, by the way.”
“I’m glad that you both are alright then.”
The taller of the two spared the girl a bright smile once she collected herself enough to speak properly without panting. She was thankful that both the younger female and her pet had gone unharmed against the racing car. She couldn’t even imagine how gruesome the aftermath might of been had her reflexes not been so quick.
“Oh, I’m fine,” the inking assistant perked up once more, shaking her head gently and gesturing to her arms and legs. She’d been more surprised than anything, but had ultimately gone unscathed. “Mabel-chan.. and Waddles.”
She couldn’t help but stifle a giggle at the name. This place just seemed to get stranger and stranger.. and a young girl having a pig as a pet was no exception to that.
“It’s nice to meet you.. you can call me Chiyo!”
“Aren’t you excited for autumn? It looks like everyone is already putting out Halloween decorations!!”

“I know it’s strange; I went through something similar - going back, only to return here, and come back to a date the same as when I left. Not the same, I know, but it’s something similar.
–You’re living in the building in Sector 6?” Awash with fresh elation, his glowing eyes landing upon her. I’ve lived there since the beginning! We’d be in the same complex; what apartment are you in?“ Excitement hastened his questioning, eager to learn just how close they might be.
“Mhm. I’ve met Kashima-kun a few times. She’s a fun person to be around, I imagine. We never had chance to talk much, but I can tell that your friendship must be something special. His hand squeezed hers tighter; adamant not to see her disappear again at any point unless it might truly be beneficial to her. “I’d like to. To hear about what things are like back home, how you’ve been. –I missed you”.
The startling realization that they had finally been reunited after what had seemed like an eternity was finally beginning to settle. Slender frame that had been wracked with an unheard of exhaustion from her reappearance slowly began to gain more and more energy. Her strength steadily increasing with each and every second that passed by as they neared the exit of the dangerous streets she’d stumbled down. Limbs that had once been stiff from a wash of anxiety were gaining more and more flexibility as they rounded a corner and broke out towards a sunny spot that had become untouched by the clouds overhead, nearing the terminal.. a hopeful sign that good things were to come for the two of them.
Bleary-eyed from the sudden solace of their meeting, the only thing she could do was muster a small nod as he continued on chatting excitedly and pulling her towards safety.
It all seemed so astonishing -- albeit wonderful and curious and truly magnificent -- that they would of been able to met again despite all the odds stacked against them. She’d figured that arriving back here would of meant running into some familiar, perhaps nostalgic figures.. but she never would of imagined finding her friend among that crowd.
Nor would she of figured that he’d actually be so close to her this time around --
“What?! Really?!” she suddenly cried out as their pace picked up with their growing excitement, head snapping up to look towards him.
“I’m in... uhm, T-6.. what about you?” she replied after a moment of consideration, recalling the number she’d seen on the outside of her door. Her hand squeezed his once more and she let out another laugh, drunk off of a new surge of happiness. It seemed that she was even luckier this time around then she had been last time she’d been held captive. “We’re really that close? That’s great.. I’m so glad..!”
And she really was --
“I’ve missed you too,” she breathed, feeling the prickling sensation of tears once more at the corners of her eyes. She fought to keep them under control, but they spilled over her cheeks despite her best attempts and she hiccuped before showing him a watery smile. “I’ve got so much to tell you and I want to hear about everything that’s happened with you!!”
