Who up ripping they tide? New PC designs just dropped. Detailed breakdown below if ya’ll feel like reading some ramblings.
The biggest departure if you’re thinking that it doesn’t look like Gillion, yours right it’s purposefully a unique appearance for him. My line of thinking was that for 120 odd episodes we have seen Gillion trying to be this idealistic Champion of the Undersea. He wears the training clothes he was banished in, he layers on so much armour in hopes to get closer to his ultimate destiny.
So post return to the Undersea, while he’s undergoing the trials of the leviathans I wanted to give him an overhaul. He’s really trying to find himself and it’s the most vulnerable he’s ever been in his life. He’s wearing this really light and flowy outfit, similar perhaps regular civilian Undersea clothes. His collarbone area is exposed reflecting that newfound vulnerability. I imagine the colours to still be dark, blacks, greys, dark greens, he still carries a burden but he’s learning to carry it in his own way.
I have always had a really hard time designing chip because franklly in my mind he was always the spirit Halloween pirate costume. I like the big captains coat that it a tad oversized on him, not big enough to look goofy, but large enough so you can see he’s still learning to fill this role.
His flame tattoos on the left curl around his heart, death is constantly reaching out for his life. Other then that he is very textbook pirate, like yep that’s a guy sailing the seven seas right there.
It’s no secret that Jay is my it girl, she is my muse. So she’s very cowboy inspired, I feel like every Riptide PC lowk has their prime ocean for character development, Jays is gonna be Horsea, she is a bad ass steam punk cowboy in my dreams okay.
She’s got very feminine elements to the design, I like the ruffles in the pants, I LOVE LOVE the layered necklaces, I also envision a little scrap of fabric tied around her gun holster, maybe from the site of a certain grave.
Pirate fashions newest it girl, in which I mean she is so obviously not dressed as a pirate. In canon I don’t think we’re actually at the point where she is hanging the jolly roger from her belt, but eventually it will be added to the scarf layers fulltime trust.
She’s actually lowk inspired by the Pokémon slyveon, lots of ribbon and instead of bows stars holding them all together. Also layers of skirts, I envision them all whites and oranges, some with subtle patterns but all very cohesive. She is neat and tidy but is also sort of layered to the extreme in the way she was unintentionally sheltered from the world, she’s just not really super open yet, very stuck in her ways.
