When choosing an application for yourself to use, or for your business, you will end up having to consider if you want to use an open source software or a proprietary software, whats the difference?

Open source software are programs where the source code is available and open to the public for all people, anyone can freely inspect or modify it to their needs. Anyone can access it, and most open source applications are free and have a community surrounding it.

Proprietary software, on the other hand is owned by a company or organization and the source code is closed. This comes with a cost for the product, more limited customization, and comes with liscensing. Updates and security, depend heavily on the vendor. The software can have more ease of use, direct support from the vendor, and better security.

Listen actively – Let the customer fully explain their issue before responding.

Use clear, simple language – Avoid technical jargon when speaking with non-technical users.

Confirm understanding – Repeat back key points to ensure you understand their problem.

Stay patient and polite – Even with frustrated customers, remain calm and professional.

Ask the right questions – Gather enough details before offering a solution.

Follow structured troubleshooting – Start with basic steps before diving into advanced solutions.

Keep documentation handy – Refer to manuals, knowledge bases, and FAQs for quick fixes.

LAN and WAN are both area networks used to create connections between devices.

LAN stands for, "local area network". LAN is for use in the same building, such as connecting computers in the same office.
