I was literally thinking that while drawing this for a hypothetical “everyone but Sif loops” scenario.
That moment when your friend is so horrifically repressed that it takes you getting stuck in a time loop to figure out something is seriously wrong with him.
[ID: In Stars and Time comics. The first starts with Mirabelle and Siffrin sitting on the bench in Dormont together, and Siffrin exclaims cheerfully, "Oh! None of you should worry about me tomorrow, Mira! There's nothing I'm going back to, no one cares about me, so it'll be fine if I die."
The continue nonchalantly, "It's a good thing too, if something goes horribly wrong, I can take the hit? Odile wants me leading anyways, so any pickle we get stuck in would be my fault. I'd deserve what's coming." Siffrin smiles brightly, "So don't worry about me! It'll be oka-" They break off with a caught-out smile. "Ah-" Mirabelle is staring at him in comical and absolute horror, and Siffrin asks, "Mira? Are you alright?"
The next part of the post starts with a reply by @/kayre-stuffs that says, "Party looping au equipping a memory that causes Siffrin to just be honest and spill all that out to everyone's horror". The comic follows:
Odile is in the shop, and she thinks, :Reset again, its unfortunate Siffrin will forget our good times, but... nothing to be done about it. He got a memory at least, Mirabelle will test it before we all gather by the tree again." She inspects the shelves, wondering, "... what did Boniface want to make this, time...?" when Mirabelle bursts in with a frazzled Siffrin, screaming, "MADAME!" Odile looks pissed and thinks, "Peace isn't real."
Mirabelle is crying with distress as she exclaims, "Madame! Siffrin got a new memory that makes him honest and- and-! He's SUICIDAL!" Siffrin says frantically, "No! Odile I don't want to die!" They sweat and smile nervously. "I just... don't matter? My life before you all was kind of sad and pointless, and we're all about to separate so I don't mind it ending for you all. I want you all safe, my outcome is irrelevant." Mirabelle yells tearily, "How did we miss this?!" while Odile stares in silent horror, hand over her mouth. End ID]
