Picking more berries, his eyes went and looked at some of the rabbits that were around. Their feet seemed to sell well on the market, and their meat was both tasty and good money. Taking out his dart, he was close to stabbing at one of them before it ran off. His little arm went out, wanting to go after it, but he decided against it. Not until his question was answered.
Listening in close, the child looked to the ground in thought. Was it really that special? He promised Sinbad some time ago, in a rather dark way, that he would stay by his side forever. Tilting his head up, he held his little hands into balls in front of him.
“Does that mean Sin and I are married? I promised him a long time ago that I would stay by his side forever. He gave me a new life and a new purpose. Does that count?” Oh my god. Just what was he thinking…? Really, a child’s mind can be rather extreme.
Suddenly, he stopped and started to laugh.
“Then again, he’s rather useless without me to keep him in check. His thoughts can be too rash and he always ends up getting himself in trouble. It’s really fucking ah-noy-ing.” He didn’t love Sinbad anyway. Ja’far knew nothing of love, but he knew that he didn’t look at the teenager like Hinahoho looked at Rurumu.
“You really love Rurumu. It’s written all over your face.” Placing his small basket down, the assassin took out his darts and crouched down, waiting for another small animal to come his way. Another rabbit – or was it the same rabbit? – would be his target. Getting low, he quickly threw his darts, attempting to catch it.
A long moment of silence had passed between them as Ja’far considered his words, to the point where Hinahoho had shrugged the child’s question off as fleeting curiosity and went back to picking berries.
And then Ja’far spoke up again.
And Hinahoho nearly dropped the basket he was holding.
“W-well you’re not married yet!” He sputtered, “I mean--” The giant coughed, realizing what he’d just said. “-I mean there’s a whole ceremony and it’s this official thing, and I know you’re good friends but marriage is a huge commitment and.... and...”
All right, take a deep breath Hinahoho-- Ja’far’s too young to get married anyways. Just put a hand on his head so his darts were thrown off course enough to miss that rabbit he was aiming for, and smile reassuringly once it’d scurried away.
“We try not to kill unnecessarily in Imuchakk.” He explained. Yes, a much easier topic! “And we already have plenty of meat in our stores, certainly enough to get by for awhile. Leave the rabbit be.”
“And uh...” Hinahoho frowned a bit. “...Is it really constantly written all over my face how much I love her?”
