I was thinking about relationships between siblings and what effect the sign ruling the third house has on sibling relationships. These are observations made from my personal experiences, some of you may not resonate with this post, and that’s okay. There’s no way to determine what’s a good or bad relationship based on just the 3rd house ruler, but I hope this post can help some of you understand your relationships better. It’s important to keep in mind other placements, aspects, and synastry. Astrology is a guide not a rule, you can use it to get to know yourself better or improve your relationships, so take this with a grain of salt. Please don’t plagiarize my post.

♈️ Aries: There may be competition and jealousy. You may be jealous of the attention your sibling gets. It’s also possible that your sibling gets compared to you a lot, which can become an insecurity for your sibling(s). As you grow older you may leave your childish ways, and actually care for your sibling. This placement indicates that you may take care of them in big ways like providing for them or paying for their rent.

My mom has Aries in her 3rd house and when she was little she would initiate physical fights with her younger sister out of jealousy. She was also mad that she had to take care of her, and wished her sister would just disappear. In addition, my mom’s sister would always get compared to her and it caused a lot of insecurity and competition. Now that she’s older they still argue a lot, and play fight but my mom provides for her sister, and pays her rent.

♉️ Taurus: Your siblings may consider you to be lazy or slower than them in certain aspects, but they know they can always count on you. Moreover, it can be overwhelming having to always look out for, or take care of your siblings because they depend on you too much. You can also be very resentful when there’s arguments because of your stubborn nature.

What I mean by slower is for example, you may learn things at a different pace than your sibling(s) or you’re not always in a rush to get things done. I have Taurus in the 3rd house myself, and I always take my time doing things in comparison to my sister. Now, I’m not a messy or lazy person but I am a homebody, and I will take my time getting my chores done, but they will get done. I also learn at a different pace than my peers. I need to take my time and truly understand something before I feel confident. And it is overwhelming always looking out for my sister.

♊️ Gemini: Your siblings may consider you the “fun” sibling or the “unstable” sibling because you always have something going on whether it’s good or bad. There’s lots of communication, even during arguments, but your siblings may feel like they can have the most mentally stimulating conversation with you, in comparison to other family members.

This placement gives me “my sibling is my best friend” vibes, and if there’s ever an issue you will try to communicate however you can to make the relationship work. That doesn’t mean everything will be butterflies and rainbows, I just noticed that this placement usually has an easier time getting along with their sibling, but it’s important to keep in mind your siblings 3rd house ruler because that influences the dynamic between you.

♋️ Cancer: You’re always taking care of your siblings, and you always check up on them no matter how far away you live. Growing up, your siblings may have looked up to you as parent figure because of your nurturing and empathetic nature towards them.

My boyfriend has Cancer ruling his 3rd house, and he took on the parent role, and took care of his little sister. He had a single mom, who was always working and was never home, so his sister grew up looking up to him and respecting him. I’m sorry, but with this placement all I can think about is A single mom who works two jobs, who loves her kids and never stops with gentle hands and a heart of a fighter🗣

♌️ Leo: Your siblings may consider you dramatic, a show off, and an attention seeker. You may also come across as bossy and pushy which can cause a lot of arguments. There’s possible jealousy and competition with this placement too. However, your loyalty and love is unmatched and your siblings know it.

A family friend has Leo in his 3rd house and his sisters are always upset because he gets the most attention from their mom, and he’s always bossing them around. They consider him the “golden child” and he can’t do no wrong, because of this he doesn’t have the closest relationship with them, but he doesn’t care.

♍️ Virgo: Your siblings may consider you to be very judgmental, paranoid, and negative. Also, your siblings may feel like you’re always nagging and complaining about something. However, they depend too much on you to take care of things they don’t want to do, and will seek for your comfort or support if they’re having issues with your parents.

My cousin has Virgo in his 3rd house and he’s always judging his siblings and acting like he’s better than them, but if someone ever messes with his siblings he will get in a physical fight. He’s also the most hardworking, clean, and responsible out of his siblings.

♎️ Libra: The peacekeeper sibling. Your siblings may feel at peace and comfortable with you. They may also come to you for advice, and with this placement, it’s easy for them to overshare information with you, that they normally wouldn’t share with other siblings or family members.

Natives with this placement may have a harmonious relationship with their siblings and overall just make the family dynamic peaceful. On a bad day, your siblings may perceive you as vain because of the effort you put in your appearance, and lacking self awareness because of your need to please others.

♏️ Scorpio: Complicated relationship with siblings. I noticed these natives either have a good relationship with their siblings or the relationship is nonexistent. Either way, there may be some resentment and rivalry with this placement.

An old friend of mine, has Scorpio in his 3rd house, and he’s always resented his older brother because his brother is everything his parents wished he was. He was basically the “black sheep” among his siblings. Moreover, my friend was also very irresponsible, and depended on his siblings to fix everything for him, yet was still very rude to them. Despite all of this, he still loved his siblings very much, and would do anything for them. This may not be the case for everyone, but I noticed it’s usually this way with these natives, my mom’s younger sister also has Scorpio in her 3rd house, I mentioned her earlier when I was talking about Aries in the 3rd. Coincidence? Not.

♐️ Sagittarius: You may come across as the independent or wild sibling because of your approach to life. You’re usually doing what your siblings wouldn’t dare to do, or end up providing for all of your siblings because of how independent and hardworking you are. Either way, your free spirited nature makes you pleasant to be around, in comparison to your other siblings.

My best friend has Sagittarius in her 3rd house, and she came from a very religious family, so her siblings were in shock when she came out as bisexual, decided to not be religious, and moved out of town.

My dad has Sagittarius in his 3rd house, and he started working since he was 13 and at 18 he moved out of the country and started working full time. He has six siblings, and he’s the only one that’s financially stable, yet he provides for all of them without complaining.

♑️ Capricorn: Your siblings will perceive you as responsible and mature. They will look up to you, and will try to gain your respect, trust and validation. Similar to Cancer, you took on the role of taking care of your siblings, while you may not have been as empathetic and nurturing, you were responsible with them, and always pushed them to be the best version of themselves.

My friend has Capricorn in his 3rd house, and even though he’s the youngest he’s always taken care of his older sister, and pushed her to be the best version of herself. He’s always defending her against his parents and making sure she always has money. Such a lovely dynamic.

♒️ Aquarius: Typical Aquarius. Your siblings may perceive you as distant, cold, and mean or very intelligent, quirky, and cool. Honestly, it just depends what mood you’re in, for that reason the relationship with your siblings may always be unpredictable. However, your presence changed the the life of your siblings somehow, and having an air sign ruling your 3rd house will give you the ability to communicate and get along with your siblings if you’d like to.

My sister has Aquarius in her 3rd house and honestly things are always hot and cold with her. One moment she’s being really mean and the next she’s asking me to do something fun with her. Her presence changed my life completely because I’ve always wanted a sibling, so there’s that. And on a good day we have the best relationship because she chooses to communicate and listen.

♓️ Pisces: Really empathetic, selfless and caring towards their sibling. Their pain is your pain, and while there may be times you guys aren’t on speaking terms, you care a lot and won’t hesitate to let them know you do, and will always be there if they need you. I think this placement makes these natives amazing siblings.

My other best friend has Pisces in her 3rd house and she genuinely cares a lot about her brother. She might baby him a lot, and allow him to get away with a lot of things at her own expense, but she says it’s because he’s been through a lot already. She really looks out for him, and gets so mad when someone mistreats him.

Unaspected Planets  in Astrology

Unaspacted planets happen from time to time in natal horoscopes. These are often referred to as Peregrine Plants. They are, by definition, planets in the natal chart that lack any Ptolemaic aspect [I.e squares, conjunctions, oppositions, trines, textiles, noviles, etc.] As a result, these planets lacking in action don’t connect with the rest of the cerebral processes. Think if it like being in a whole new country that you’ve never explored that speaks a completely different tongue than you. They have different customs, different sayings, and even write in different characters. Integrating into the every day can be a challenge because of the unfamiliar territory.  In the natal chart, it can display itself through the native as a disconnection in whatever the planet affected represents. Now, disconnect does not always equate “bad”. It can just be different. By that, I mean Unaspected planets can go one of two ways: Either there may be very pronounced talents or overcompensatory ones. The talents may be dominant and all-encompassing or excessive to the point of discomfort. Another trademark of unaspected planets is that they often walk hand in hand with sentiments of of insecurity. This insecurity is in tandem with various things but the bottom line is natives with unaspected planets often deal with restlessness. There's just this  "hunger," or "yearning," or "being unfulfilled" in the area of that planet. For more illustration:

Unaspected Sun

Can display itself as an unusual individual. They may have an intensified drive almost to the degree of a martian. Their ego is intensified as well. They sort of sing a different tune than everyone else. There is strong emphasis on self-expression and an even bigger desire for recognition as it satiates the ego.

When no aspects are made to the moon this can indicate perhaps the native has emotional disconnection, especially with the mother. They may not show emotion easily or adversely, they may have a hyper-active need for care, nurturing, and security-oriented expressions [either giving or receiving]. Integration can be made easier by acknowledging emotional needs and satiating them in healthy ways.

Unaspected Mercury

Will often showcase a native with a mind that is overactive. They may be verbose, think too much, have high anxiety as well. This untamed mental energy can be molded into a strong asset if it’s harnessed and exercised through productive direction. Namely writing, communicating, etc. Often these people, though they may talk often have very impressive social and verbal skills.

Unaspected Venus

Can put a magnifying glass on emotional, creative, and social needs. Of course sign and house will give more context to how it will be expressed [i.e water will be emotional needs being exacerbated, earth will be material, etc]. However, in general, they’ll often be either hyper attractive, hyper flirtation, or have an insatiable need to be appreciated somehow. They are loved of course. In the 12th house, these needs can be idealized and their fantasies can be very vivid. There can be a matryistic attitude towards love or they may secretly want more than they have in love. 

Unaspected Mars

A wild aspect. One may need special attention here because the direction of energy is often wily. They may be hyper-active, powerful, and/ or a tad too aggressive by nature. Their anger needs to be monitored. The right and healthy outlet for said energy will bring them the returns they seek. The wrong outlets could find them wound up in easily-avoidable trouble. Integration can be made easier by perhaps taking up a martial art or therapy [sexual, anger, emotional, etc].

Unaspected Jupiter

An unaspasceted Jupiter means that the mind will love in the realms of spirituality, teaching, higher education, travel, and philosophy. They have a dominant higher mind. They have thirsty minds and may find themselves constantly thinking or discussion these matters. They may also use humor to cope with life or even be some of the funniest. Big emphasis on that with this in the natal chart. Inegration can be made easier by learning something new- languages may be a forte.

Unaspected Saturn

Unaspected Saturn indicates intensified ambitions [Saturn =10th house] and even a disconnect with the dominant parental figure [often dad]. They may overcompensate by overworking themselves, being too strict or regimented, or even restrict themselves from things they deserve as they feel it showcases discipline. They may come off as cold or unfeeling or even feel often that they don’t deserve fun or to enjoy life. Integration can be made easier by balancing work and personal life. Give yourself a break.

Unaspected Uranus

Usually indicates amplified unconventionalism and individuality. They are extremely progressive and may have a mind for invention. They can seem quite quirky and they can be very oddball in their approach. They want to study artifacts and be out of the box characters who march to the beat of their own drum. Strong need for social action or to be a part of some social movement/revolution. Integration can be made easier by taking initiative in forming some non-profit organization,

Unaspected Neptune

Indicates strong idealism. Heightened sensitivity and big big dreams. Creativity can be high here but they may often escape into this world while forsaking reality. There may be difficulty integrating this into their life in a healthy way if not monitored. Like Uranus, integration of this planet can be formed by taking on new create projects often so there is a healthy outlet for all that Neptunian expression.
