crow: i don't feel well and you're carrying me and i feel guilty.

fox: hush.

crow: i can't carry you. it feels unfair.

fox, imagining standing on the crow's back: it is true. you can't carry me.

but i would never ask you to do more than you can and harm yourself just to make it fair.

(fox remembers crow bringing them berries while they rest.) i can't fly, and yet when i am tired you bring me treats from high branches.

(fox remembers sleeping with crow in the carrier.) i cannot build nests, you are the one that fills our duvet with down and soft leaves. when i rest my head upon it, is it unfair to you?

crow: ... no. i mean... it's OUR blanket.

fox: yes. and this is OUR journey now.

we walk as companions.
