robbers // the 1975
I HATE THIS lmao
Can’t believe how dreamy last night was. So here’s kind of a basic story of what happened!!! My 8 year old little sister, Jennie, and her best friend took a picture in their The 1975 merch and I tweeted it at Matty and he favorited it. When I met him in Chattanooga on the 28th, I told Matty about the picture to see if he remembered it, and he did because it’s his laptop screensaver!! He then found out that Jennie didn’t have a ticket to the Raleigh show and immediately put her on the guest list. Jennie somehow was able to be up on the barricade with me and when The 1975 came out and was singing The City, and Matty recognized her instantly. He ran and crouched down and said, “I KNOW YOU!” Jennie was beyond thrilled, and then Matty started talking to Jennie and she started bawling because she was so happy. She enjoyed the show so much, and then Matty came down and invited her and I to come up for Robbers. Jennie was so nervous and decided against, but Matty told us that we would have the opportunity to go backstage anyway, which made me cry during Robbers, basically the entire time. When the band was taking their bows, Matty leaned over the barricade and scooped Jennie up and bowed with her and took her backstage. About 10 minutes later, my family and 2 friends came in and Jennie and Matty we’re sitting there laughing together. We then introduced ourselves to him and then the rest of the band came out. They were all so kind and gentle and so so so loving. We took many pictures and giggled a lot and it was such a cool experience. About 20 minutes, we left with poloriods, picks, and lots of signatures and love. It was such an incredible experience, I can’t even begin to explain how grateful I am for this. I would love to give a huge shoutout to the lovely girls in line that let Jennie go in with them and took such good care of her. Thank you to the management that made us feel so safe and warm. And also thank you to the band for honoring Jennie in such a special way. Much love. xx
