"It's become quite cliche, but you gotta have the 'Belief' to succeed in anything in you do!", highlighted Mr. Parthiv Patel, former Indian cricketer as Chief Guest at IISM's Orientation for the Class of 2026! 🏏

Drawing on his years of on-field experience as a player, talent scout & coach, he inspired our incoming batches with plenty of gritty anecdotes.

There was so much for our new students to learn from his life story: rising from his humble family background to thriving in Team India's competitive squad in the 2000s. 🇮🇳

Be it his Ranji Trophy-winning campaigns with Gujarat or the must-win game in the 2013 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy where he led the way to a 110-run victory - it was a fabulous blast from the past. 💥

"The heart of everything we do has to be love. If what you do is with love, then no matter how big or small you were before, you will only get bigger."

That was the message Mr. Rahul Bose, President of Rugby India, left the IISM Class of 2026 with as the Chief Guest at our Orientation.

While the world knows him for his work on screen, it was his journey in sport that took centre stage.

Drawing from his experiences on and off the field, he shared four values every aspiring sports professional should live by:

Truth, Accountability, Transparency, and Ethics.

One line from his speech is sure to stay with everyone: "Do you want to spend your whole life bumping the carpet or sleep peacefully?" To decode it, you had to be there. 🎟️🙌

His message to our students was simple: "Whether you build your career in sports management or sports science, strive to make a difference in someone's life."

And perhaps the biggest takeaway of all: "Do what you love or find love in what you do." ❤️

IISM Orientation 2026: The Beginning of a New Story. 🎓✨

Every great journey starts somewhere, and this one began with excitement, curiosity, and a room full of future sports professionals.

We welcomed the Sports Management and Sports Science cohort of 2026 to the IISM family.

From meeting new friends and finding answers to long-held questions to imagining everything that's ahead, the day was filled with energy and anticipation. ⚡🌟

We were honoured to have Mr. Rahul Bose, President of Rugby India, and Mr. Parthiv Patel, former Indian cricketer, inspire our students with their experiences and words of wisdom.

Joining them were IISM's Founder-Director, Mr. Nilesh Kulkarni, Co-Founder & Managing Director, Ms. Rasika Kulkarni, Associate Dean Mr. Amitava Pal, and COO Mr. Amit Gupte making the occasion even more memorable.

When Janmesh Kokate joined IISM's Bachelor of Sports Management program 🎓, he dreamed of working with his favourite teams and athletes.Today, he's doing exactly that.

From attending industry masterclasses and learning from some of the biggest names in sports, to gaining hands-on experience at the Champions Trophy, IPL, the GOAT India Tour, and the Tata Mumbai Marathon, Janmesh has made the most of every opportunity that came his way. 🙌

His journey has also taken him behind the scenes with ESPN, SFA, Star Sports' broadcast team, and today, he's part of the team managing RCB's official fan page. 😍

"My journey with swimming began when I was five years old. I quickly fell in love with the sport. There was something special about being in the water, pushing myself to be faster and stronger every day." 💪

For Akankshya Nayak, a Bachelor of Sports Management student at IISM, that love has grown into an incredible journey, one that has seen her win 47 medals, compete at State, National, and Khelo India Championships, and earn an All India Top 10 swimming ranking in 2024. 🏆

Balancing academics with competitive sport was never easy. Reflecting on that journey, she shares,

"I would leave for practice before most of my classmates were awake, spend hours training, and then return home to complete assignments and prepare for exams. 📚 There were moments when everything felt hectic, but I fell in love with all the challenges and chaos along the way."

It's this passion and unwavering commitment that defines what it means to be a student-athlete.

For rhythmic gymnast Kimaya Karle, that mindset has taken her from competing at World Cups and Asian Cups to winning medals at national competitions, all while pursuing her Bachelor of Sports Science with IISM. 🎓 🤸‍♀️

According to Kimaya, what makes IISM special is the perfect blend of classroom learning and real-world exposure. 📚

From gaining in-depth knowledge of sports science concepts to practical experiences through visits to KEM Hospital and biomechanics laboratories, every opportunity helps build a deeper understanding of the field.

"IISM has a lot of great opportunities. The faculties are so helpful and truly love what they teach," she shares. ❤️

Managing elite-level sport and academics is never easy. But Kimaya approaches both the same way she approaches competition, by giving 100% to the task in front of her.

A journey defined by passion, discipline, and excellence.

"The sports industry is sort of growing in terms of marketing and sponsorships. It's growing at a trajectory it's never seen!" 📈

And when this IISM alumnus says it, he knows exactly what he's talking about. 💯

Today, Jairath Chugh is shaping Entertainment & Sports Partnerships at WPP Media as the Group Head, working the scenes, aspiring sports professionals dream of! 💼

But his journey started right here at IISM. 🎓

Reflecting on his time as a student, he describes it as nostalgic, and filled with invaluable learnings about the business of sports. 📚

Among his most memorable experiences? An internship with Rajasthan Royals. 🏏

Being on the ground gave him a firsthand look at what powers the sports industry behind the scenes.

It showed him the difference between simply being around sport and understanding how sport is professionally managed.

What also stood out most during his IISM journey was the constant interaction with industry leaders, guest speakers, and professionals.

By the time he entered the industry, many of those faces were already familiar.

His message to aspiring sports professionals is simple:

The future of sports is being built right now.

I don’t think India has a talent problem,” says Jinal Gala, Physiotherapist and Co-founder of Synergy India.

In this insightful conversation, she explores the contrasting approaches to sports science across the world, from the data-driven systems often seen in the West to the symptom-driven practices prevalent across much of Asia.

She also shares her perspective on the impact of key Indian sports development initiatives such as Khelo India, Target Olympic Podium Scheme, and National Centres of Excellence.
